Senior Project Leader

PATH Program Delivery

The successful candidate is a seasoned project management professional with strong critical thinking skills who will be dedicated to support the execution of the PATH program and report directly to the Director, Program Delivery. The PATH program is a multiyear initiative with the objective of delivering a new pension administration system to support the current schedules of pension benefits.  This includes the ability to resolve issues as they arise, create, and monitor communications for projects.  The position also requires building, maintaining, and enhancing excellent relations with all business partners.


  • Advises and motivates the PATH project team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Accountable for project delivery through the effective management of the projects' scope, budget, and timelines by following prescribed governance processes.
  • Develops detailed project plans, including but not limited to project integration plans, test plans, communication plans, risk plans, training plans and promotion plans.
  • Provides business and technical expertise in all aspects of project management methodologies which are aligned with PMI principles.
  • Accountable for business partner relationships across the organization on behalf of the PATH team.
  • Tracks and reports on project milestones and provide status reports to stakeholders
  • Balances competing constraints such as scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risk
  • Provides support to ensure PATH is appropriately accounted for in the corporate annual planning and budget process for identifying business development initiatives and the ongoing process throughout the year.
  • Participates in the continuous refreshing of the OPTrust Project Management Methodology, as required, and communicate changes to project leaders, project managers, or others who lead projects at OPTrust.


  • Experience leading large system and business transformational projects with data conversion is an asset and/or 5+ years of recent hands-on experience in leading large scope multidivisional projects, preferably within the pension industry.
  • Experience in leading pension plan transformational projects is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to manage, influence and motivate teams, and possess superior ability to lead teams in driving initiatives forward with high-quality results.
  • Effective verbal, written, presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Expert knowledge on Excel and Microsoft Project or other project management tools.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a strong asset.
  • CSM and/or DASM certification is a strong asset.
  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in business or a related field.
  • Strong time management, prioritization, organization skills, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with change management is an asset.
