About the Role

Our highly skilled Senior Development Officer will report directly to one Director of Major Gifts. As an integral part of the foundation’s Philanthropy team, the Senior Development Officer works closely with all members of the Philanthropy team, and other teams within the foundation.

You Will:

Portfolio Management (50%)

  • Manage a portfolio of ca. 75 major gift prospects, focusing on identification, cultivation,
  • solicitation and stewardship of prospects primarily in the six figure range.
  • Close ca. $1.5M in new commitments annually.

Cancer Centre Relationships (30%)

  • Build meaningful relationships with selected Princess Margaret Cancer Centre partners
  • by serving as the Foundation’s initial point of contact for research groups, referrals from
  • select assigned site groups and, where advantageous, attending site group and research
  • group meetings.
  • Work with supervising Director of Major Gifts to identify referred prospects with $1M+
  • potential and transition such prospects to portfolio of Director of Major Gifts.

Operations and Systems Management (5%)

  • Navigate donor database and request reports
  • Help ensure integrity of database and donor data
  • Execute timely and accurate entry of all substantive interactions and next steps with
  • assigned prospects.
  • Prospect pipeline management and monitoring

Special Projects as assigned (15%)

  • Partner with the Director to develop select fundraising strategies and portfolios, as
  • High level support of supervising Director of Major Gifts on a small number of the
  • Director’s most significant prospects

You Have:

  • 5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, or customer service
  • University Degree/college diploma required
  • Demonstrated skills in managing multiple projects
  • Proven organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and desire to learn and grow
  • Commitment to excellent donor service
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, to juggle competing priorities, to be part of a
  • team, to be responsive and to meet deadlines
  • MS Office skills
  • Experience with relational databases is an asset

  • Demonstrate a high level of ethics in fundraising and help others succeed in this area as well
