The Corporate Sustainability Program Manager will report to the Director of Corporate Sustainability. They will play a key role in enabling the success of Assent’s corporate sustainability strategy and performance of Assent’s newly-established Executive Sustainability Committee and associated subcommittees. They will be responsible for planning, managing and executing the operational functions and activities of Assent’s newly-established Executive Sustainability Committee, which is composed of senior executives from across the company. They will also support the development and execution of Assent’s corporate sustainability strategy and coordinate Assent’s annual corporate sustainability reporting work. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to drive projects utilizing a hands-on approach while simultaneously executing and thinking strategically. They will have a passion for sustainability and the ambition to grow their expertise and knowledge in environment, social and governance (ESG) and corporate sustainability.
Plan, manage and execute the operational functions and activities of the ESC (Executive Sustainability Committee), which will include:
Developing and maintaining operational documents and strategies for the ESC
Meeting planning, including agenda development
Ensuring meetings are conducted in line with established governance procedures
Following up on implementation of decisions made by the ESC
Support the development and execution of Assent’s corporate sustainability strategy, which will include:
Coordinating a baseline of Assent’s management of priority material sustainability topics
Helping ESC members to define and track sustainability goals and objectives
Conducting research to inform sustainability strategy development and implementation
Securing external and internal advice and support
Identify and support the sustainability professional development needs of ESC and Board members
Work alongside the Director of Corporate Sustainability to ensure Board and Leadership engagement on the development, implementation and reporting of Assent’s corporate sustainability strategy
Coordinate Assent’s annual sustainability reporting work:
Establish tools, processes and structures to facilitate ongoing reporting and data collection from our global offices.
Equip reporting leads to successfully meet their reporting obligations
Support the report writing process in conjunction with reporting leads, the Director of Corporate Sustainability and Marketing.
The Corporate Sustainability Program Manager will be a highly driven individual with a strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to manage relations with diverse and senior stakeholders within an organization. They will be comfortable utilizing both a hands-on approach while simultaneously executing and thinking strategically. The following expertise and skills will be required:
Proven track record of success (minimum 2-3 years) in program/project management
Excellent planning, forecasting and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills- you communicate clearly, concisely and with tact
Skilled collaborator - adept at rallying stakeholders around a common goal, coordinating tasks, and ensuring that everybody works together effectively
You have grit - you are conscientious, you always work towards providing solutions, and are dedicated to achieving excellence and driving results
You are adaptable - ability to shift course and find ways to keep moving forward
You are determined and persistent in achieving your goals and comfortable pursuing and promoting the engagement of senior leaders in Assent’s corporate sustainability work
Curiosity & desire to learn and step into unknown challenges
You are comfortable providing strategic feedback
You have a positive and driven personality and you thrive in a dynamic work environment
You have a passion for sustainability and an ambition to grow your knowledge within the realm of ESG and corporate sustainability
You have an understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks, such as GRI and SASB
