The Department of Community and Government Services (CGS) works with community governments to meet residents' needs, by providing programs and funding to support municipal operations as well as infrastructure and land development. CGS also serves the public directly, through services such as fire safety promotion, inspection and training, building inspections, search and rescue coordination, and training and fuel distribution, and promotes healthy living by supporting amateur sport and local recreational opportunities all over Nunavut. Within this department, the Informatics Planning and Services team offers IT and IM Call Center and specialized service desk services to support residents through the provision of advice, enhancements, training and support.
The Government of Nunavut is seeking a Project Manager, Operations, who will report to the Manager, Informatics Projects and will primarily handle enterprise-level operations project requirements involving major GN network infrastructures. Focusing mainly on data and voice networks, server room application systems, client department facility planning and all hardware/software related to such infrastructures, you'll work closely with each Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) Network Operations' section, Community and Government Services, client departments and outside contractors in managing initiatives involving these major infrastructures.
As Project Manager, Operations, you'll be responsible not only for project planning of all major internal Network Operations projects involving Telecommunications, Facilities, Data Centre Application Systems and all related equipment used in support of these functional areas, but also for working on some of the most important and modern IT projects available to the Territory at this time. Huge efforts are being made in Nunavut to improve communication between communities, but this role also touches upon efforts regarding essential services such as Healthcare. Therefore, allowing this position to have a direct impact on the lives of the people living in Nunavut. Furthermore, this role offers the chance for someone to prove themselves as a key IT leader, through motivating and developing teams in their delivering of important changes, upgrades and additions to IT systems throughout the Government.
This is an exciting and challenging role for a knowledgeable and skilled project manager with a Diploma in Information Technology, certification in Project Management, and six (6) years' experience in information technology. Your professional background will also include three (3) years' experience working with enterprise-level infrastructures and three (3) years working in project management (as a primary job function) related to information technology. Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) OR PMP (Project Management Professional) certification will be considered an asset, along with fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, English and French), and knowledge of the Inuit language, communities, culture and land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
