ATCO is proud to announce our 2024 Indigenous Summer Student Program. Across Canada, ATCO is committed to building and maintaining positive and sustainable relationships with all the communities we serve. Our Indigenous Summer Student Program is one of the many ways we do that.

The Indigenous Summer Student Program provides Indigenous students with invaluable work experience in a welcoming, culturally safe, and inclusive environment. There are many benefits to working at ATCO and here are just a few of the benefits you can expect to receive:

  • Provided with opportunities to build your network with your fellow students and colleagues, and be involved with various Indigenous initiatives
  • Enhance your hands-on work experience with access to training resources to supplement your skills and support your career goals in a positive way

Responsibilities:

  • To work safely with all of the equipment
  • The basic preparation of food, including the preparation of vegetable and snacks.
  • Kitchen, general equipment, and facility clean up (table, floors, etc.)
  • Responsible for inspecting the equipment and food on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Ensure your station is always manned and supplies are fully stocked
  • Follow requirements of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
  • Other duties as assigned by management from time to time

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a camp, kitchen or restaurant environment is considered an asset
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised or unsupervised.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Team player
  • Food Safe Certificate is Required

This posting is for position in Jansen, SK, Canada.

Where We Work and Live:

The Jansen Discovery Lodge is a workforce housing facility in support of the BHP Jansen potash mine. The camp is located 155 kilometers east of Saskatoon, SK.

You are eligible to apply for the program if you are:

  • An Indigenous student (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)
  • Starting or returning to a full-time post-secondary and/or trades program in September 2024
  • Committed to working for 4 months from May to August on a full-time basis
  • Able to provide a resume and proof of post-secondary enrollment

Deadline to apply is March 22, 2024.
