The NPD Manufacturing Global Project Leader's (GPL) key role is to act as the single-point-of-contact for the manufacturing sector on new product development (NPD) projects to ensure that new vehicle introductions are successful. This specific role will cover the production of Side-by-Side vehicles (SSV) produced in our Juarez 3 facility.

The candidate will need to interact daily with the local manufacturing team (Juarez, Mexico) as well as with the product engineering department (Valcourt, Qc). The GPL will report to the NPD Portfolio Manager in charge of overseeing the entire NPD Portfolio for a given product. The candidate will need to track and organize deliverables, align the various sectors/disciplines in the decision-making, lead the project reporting and issue mitigation/resolution. He/she will lead a team of manufacturing professionals (a mix of direct reports and key collaborators) to complete the NPD deliverables within the set timeframe. The GPL will strive to deliver successful product launches within the constraints of time, scope and costs while managing resources, risks, and process quality. The candidate will oversee both the Product Development and Project Management aspects of his projects.

YOU'LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Accountable for the NPD Gates 0-7 for each manufacturing disciplines (Assembly, Fabrication and Logistics)
  • Directly responsible for the assembly discipline (leveraging direct reports and collaborators)
  • Responsible for incorporating the Fabrication and Logistics disciplines into project development deliverables.

Product Development

  • Define and track macro project KPI (Timeline, Cost and Objectives).
    • Accountable for the new product Timeline, the project Business Case, and the Operations Objectives
  • Coordinate with all functions towards a shared master schedule.
    • Propose pre-production schedule considering manufacturing, engineering, and marketing needs in collaboration with the Production planning department.
  • Align all manufacturing disciplines towards a clear deliverables list.
    • Ex: Process and sequence, tooling and equipment, built-in quality, layout, material management, …
  • Promote Manufacturing Strategy within the organisation.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFx), Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), …
  • Modularity, Standardization, Poka-Yoke, Complexity Management, …
  • Lean manufacturing, ensuring product quality from design phase to launch.
  • Integrate Health & Safety and Ergonomics for our workers in our tooling design, sequence of assembly, use of toxic products, etc.

Project Management

  • Organize and enhance team collaboration, identify gaps, and clarify roles & responsibilities.
  • Minimize and manage risks and escalate to steer decisions when needed.
  • Setup and lead multi-level governance to ensure resources engagement and informed decision-making.
  • Participate in the improvement / benchmarking of our NPD tools to facilitate the identification of opportunities for improvement and/or standardization of our processes.

YOU'LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the field
  • Knowledge of English is essential since the candidate will have to interact on a daily basis with peers located in Mexico
  • Solid project management experience
  • Drive and agility
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to influence, build relationships, work as a team with various sites and cultures
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing, Lean, One-Piece Flow, Mix Model operations, …
  • Strong competence in Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP and CATIA - an asset

The position is based in Valcourt, Québec (Canada). The candidate will need to travel to Mexico (~20%).
