Job Description Summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Intermediate Planning coordinator to join its growing Capital Markets Land Team. This is a new role which will be under the direction of the Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President. The successful candidate will be accountable for planning, underwriting and strategy as it relates to land sales across Canada but predominantly the GTA. This will include supporting various opportunities and listings at different stages from valuation & pitching the business, through to the full sale process.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the leadership group, work with multidisciplinary teams to advance complex projects.
  • Undertake analysis of municipal planning and zoning policies to support development conceptualization, master planning, and design development (site plan, massing etc.)
  • Develop and support recommendations to increase value to clients including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Site Plan Applications, Minor Variances, and Draft Plan of Condominium’s through coordinating with internal project team members
  • Prepare and recommend land development concepts and plans for the zoning of low, medium, & high-rise residential and employment land uses
  • Review and identify comments on all technical reports, drawings, and other consultant deliverables
  • Support other internal departments with tasks on an as-needed basis and identify ways to optimize coordination
  • Stay current on new industry trends and municipal standards Monitor and be informed on new policy updates (Provincial, Regional and Municipal), and development approvals in specified areas
  • Provide updates on all Planning & Development matters for internal team members and clients
  • You will need to have the ability to anticipate, inquire, follow up and correspond with all city staff, third party consultants and stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research to develop and critically assess inputs and assumptions (i.e. timing, costs, revenues, rents, etc.) in support of feasibility analyses and market positioning
  • Assist the team with the review and due diligence associated with potential acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of clients.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Planning, Real Estate, Business or related field
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in the planning and development industry is a must
  • An understanding of land use planning policies, regulations, and approval processes in the GTA
  • Enthusiastic, hard working, and reliable with a desire to learn and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a positive team attitude
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills
  • Candidate should be highly organized with effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Must have ability to apply judgment, strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Can manage numerous tasks at a time and self-motivated follow up ability
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining strict deadlines.
  • Interest in real estate and/or real estate related fields
