Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $63,718 to $88,178 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a self-starter attitude to provide issues management and operational administration for the section.

What can I expect to do in this role?

• Provide issues management coordination and expertise to the Director's Office and professional staff of the branch and division
• Coordinate the assignment of responses to issues, executive requests, and senior correspondence
• Critique, review, and revise issue responses to ensure consistency with Ministry's standards
• Research and develop policy, program, and administrative proposals to resolve operational challenges
• Administer the Section's human resources administration functions and processes
• Coordinate the Section's financial administration, procurement, contract management, accommodation, and records management functions

How do I qualify?

Issues Management, Research, and Analytical Skills

• You have strong issues management skills to identify, research, analyze, and propose resolutions to policy, program, and administrative issues
• You have knowledge of research methodology and well-developed research skills to provide accurate response to internal/external issues, organizational issues, executive requests, and to ensure researched information is accurate, current, and meets quality standards
• You have demonstrated exceptional analytical and problem solving skills

Operational and Administrative Experience

• You have knowledge of operations management as well as understanding of government decision-making processes and structure in order to provide coordination, oversight, expertise, and support for issues management in the Section
• You know government financial management, business administration, and human resources policies and processes in order to coordinate the Section's financial and HR administration
• You are aware of ministry and justice sector priorities

Excellent Time Management and Organizational Skills

• You can plan and complete concurrent tasks within established deadlines as well as work in a high pressure, high profile environment
• You have demonstrated good judgement as well as resourcefulness in order to complete tasks with limited directions and under minimal supervision

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

• You have oral and written communication skills to develop complex materials including briefing notes, responses to issues, proposals for program changes, and executive presentations
• You are able to critique and revise issue responses and documents
• You have relationship management skills to develop consultations and partnerships with a range of stakeholders/clients
• You have presentation skills to provide data analysis, issues analysis, program/policy options
• You have consultation skills to discuss issues, gain support, exchange information, and liaise with other branches/ministries/stakeholders

Technical Skills

• You are proficient in the use of various Microsoft software, (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• You have experience with or ability to quickly learn databases (i.e. WIN, IFIS) in order to generate reports and coordinate financial and HR functions
