Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer.

As a Project Engineer working in the Industrial Engineering department, this role will contribute to the improvement of manufacturing practices through the management of Research and Development projects and the introduction of new technology to production activities.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

· Education:

o Recognized Engineering Degree.

o Professional Engineer (P.Eng).

o Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent is considered an asset.

· Experience: 5+ years' experience managing engineering projects.

· Shipbuilding and innovation experience or understanding is considered an "asset."

· Demonstrated ability to initiate and plan projects.

· Demonstrated ability to execute, monitor, control, and close projects.

· Demonstrated ability to develop and present business cases.

· Demonstrated ability to develop project management templates and manage project documentation.

· Demonstrated ability to manage complex stakeholders and conflicting requirements.

· Demonstrated ability to manage contracts and contractors.

· Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships both with and among team members.

· Demonstrated ability to create technical requirements.

· Willingness to attend change management/'leading change' training certification or have equivalent training or experience.

· Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing.

· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

· Project Management:

o Lead the definition of project scope, objectives, and deliverables, aligning all relevant stakeholders.

o Identify and manage resources to complete projects.

o Analyze project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget.

o Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.

o Conduct meetings and workshops and prepare reports to communicate the status of projects.

o Take action to resolve project challenges and minimize delays.

o Report and escalate any significant risks and issues to management as needed, ensuring a structured approach to resolution.

o Manage project relationships across an array of stakeholders and resolve any interpersonal conflicts or challenges that may arise.

o Develop and maintain partnerships with third-party resources, including vendors and researchers.

o Manage and execute leading change plan.

· Proposal Development:

o Develop business cases and funding proposals, demonstrating connection to the companies' strategic objectives and a strong return on investment.

o Conduct options analysis.

o Present business cases and funding requests to senior management and the Customer

o Identify opportunities for external funding and negotiate external funding partner agreements.

· Project Execution:

o Complete project deliverables, as required by the project.

o Create and publish Standard Operating Procedures and Manufacturing Instructions when the R&D team rolls-out new technology or procedures to production.

· Tests and Trials Management:

o Create test and trials plans for new equipment and procedures.

o Oversee the execution of test and trials for new equipment and procedures.

o Develop requirements for contractor prototyping and testing.

o Product Requirements Development

o Create product requirements based on stakeholder needs, production environment constraints, and manufacturing standards.

o Develop the quality testing requirements to ensure products meet the technical requirements.

· Project Document Management:

o Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
