Role Overview

Proactively ensure Company safety policies and procedures are being adhered to while meeting and/or exceeding regulatory requirements. Conduct site inspections, provide formal and informal training to superintendents and field workers, educating them on our safety policies and procedures. This role is to be performed with high standards of professionalism, verbal and written communication, documentation, and confidentiality. This is a “hands-on” position that will involve working outdoors for 50% of your day. The other 50% will be spent performing administrative functions on site. This position also requires ladder use, going up and down stairs, and walking on uneven ground and may involve lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. The Site Safety Coordinator is exposed to weather and site conditions and will need to dress appropriately.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Perform inspections, toolbox talks and safety meetings (weekly)
  • Assist and work with any employees that are on Modified Duties/ Return to Work
  • Recommend and assist with implementation of corrective actions and controls.
  • Assist with site critical task planning, including crane lifts and fall protection systems.
  • Assist with site emergency response planning.
  • Follow Accident Investigation Procedure.
  • Ensure that all paperwork, including government, WCB, Incident Investigation reports, etc. are adequately filled out and completed within legislated timelines.
  • Develop safe work practices and safety job procedures.
  • Provide general site safety guidance and support.
  • Lead incident investigations.
  • Ensure inspections, investigations, FLHA’s and all necessary paperwork is completed, submitted, and filed appropriately.
  • Submit Health & Safety report to Pagnotta management (weekly / monthly)
  • Conduct onsite quality review of Supervision safety documentation.
  • Recommend disciplinary action to Supervision where non-compliance is observed.
  • Provide coaching on safety legislation and Pagnotta safety program to Supervision.
  • Keep accurate statistics records that meet the requirements and assist with annual COR audits.
  • Ensure pre-op inspections are conducted on all PME.
  • Ensure operators of PME are certified.
  • Ensure all inspection logs are maintained for all equipment including crane, rigging, hoisted equipment, mobile equipment, etc.
  • Conduct internal training, where qualified.
  • Attend project and client meetings, when required.
  • Additional tasks, as assigned.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education: NCSO Designation preferred, equivalency will be considered

Experience: 2 years' experience in an active field safety role, specifically commercial construction
