This position reports to the Senior Manager, Operations Accounting. The Senior Project Accountant will lead the transactional completion and reporting of projects costs including reporting, process guidance and analysis throughout the project lifecycle including maintenance and the management of fixed asset records and reporting within Oracle. The Senior Project Accountant works collaboratively with the Project Services team on the creation, booking and reporting of project based capital and operational expenditures.

The Senior Project Accountant requires attention to detail, a high requirement and focus on review and validation, and development of a strong understanding of ASHCOR's business as well as capital and growth project cycles.

What Else You Get To Do:

  • Works jointly with operations and project controls and services to provide accounting guidance and interpretation of contract terms in relation to accounting policies and processes.
  • Leads the Canadian and USA Project Accounting function including set up, intern reporting, related entries, and coordination of activity with the Project services team including:
  • Oracle process maintenance (project set up through to project closure and capitalization).
  • Ensure the accuracy of project PTD and YTD activity totals related to project assets and expenses.
  • Process and record transactions in Oracle fixed asset ledger relating to asset additions, adjustments, transfers, disposals, impairment, and depreciation.
  • Reconcile fixed asset ledger to GL for PPE and intangible assets, excluding construction work-in-progress.
  • Prepare individual, consolidated, and standalone Audit Packs for PPE and intangible assets.
  • Provide fixed asset data to support tax, internal/external audit, and internal control testing.
  • Works collaboratively with the Senior Manager to review business system support and growth, ensuring Ashcor continues to leverage systematic efficiencies. (Oracle Fusion, Power BI, Fusion automated reporting, Salesforce, SmartView, Oracle AP)
  • Approves, reconciles, and assures accuracy of monthly Intercompany OPEX charges and allocations.
  • Manage Working Capital, monitor bank balances, completion of cash forecasts to meet operational & project cash demands, review, and approval of weekly AP payment registers and review of monthly balances with A/R team.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor of Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Accounting designation with Minimum 7-10 years full cycle accounting corporate experience
  • Highly technical analysis or analysis of a sensitive & confidential nature may be required to be completed by the incumbent of this position.
  • Ability to use independent and sound judgment in: responding to internal & external customers; and making decisions related to management of day-to-day activities.
  • Effectively prioritize and be able to work under challenging deadlines while still emulating a strong customer service orientation; maintaining attention to detail; and performing at a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong Excel and data management skills.
  • Effective communication skills - verbal and written; tailored for multiple levels of the organization.
  • Experience in large industrial Project environment an asset.
