About this opportunity:

We are seeking a Manager for the Emergency Management team. Reporting to the Director COIMS and Occupational Safety, the Manager of Emergency Management provides strategic leadership regarding the planning, development, implementation, promotion, evaluation and sustainment of Cenovus's Emergency and Business Continuity programs.

This role has overall organizational accountability to foster and promote a Cenovus wide culture of emergency preparedness and business continuity through governance, assurance and service.

This is a full-time position located out of our Calgary office with periodic travel to field sites.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee development and implementation of emergency management and business continuity programs in compliance with the Cenovus Operating Integrity Management System (COIMS)

  • Participate in the preparation of Cenovus's strategic and operational emergency management and business continuity programs including procuring necessary equipment, technology, vendors and contractors, forecasting, prioritizing, budgets and staffing

  • Participate in programs and associations that support Cenovus's Emergency Management and Business Continuity programs; CAPP, Conference Board of Canada, TDG, Emergency Response Task Force, Western Canada Spill Services (WCSS) etc

  • Collaborates across teams by sharing learning, standard process, and providing data/feedback objectively

  • Ensures current and future talent/skill needs of team are met through development and staffing

  • Uses an appropriate balance of "doing" and "leading" to achieve team goals

  • Models the Cenovus values in both internal and cross functional activities

  • Elevate issues, opportunities and risks to appropriate decision-makers when required and to influence optimization and continuous improvement.

  • Define clear accountabilities for self, teams and individuals, and manage individual and employee performance to ensure accountabilities are met.

Who you are:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated emergency management experience preferably in a supervisory capacity, within an environment of similar scope, complexity and accountability

  • Minimal education level required is a four-year degree or diploma from a credited educational institution, preferably in the field of Emergency Management or related subject area

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in O&G environment

  • Incident Command system training Levels 100, 200, 300

  • Certified Emergency Management or other Emergency Management certifications.

  • Certified Incident Command System Trainer through ICS Canada, Certified Emergency Management or other Emergency Management certifications would be considered an asset
