Pay Grade
The annual salary range is $70,437- $112,872 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, College Experience, the Coordinator, Quality Assurance (QA) provides operational leadership for North Island College’s quality assurance processes. The Coordinator plans, delivers, and continuously improves QA services including program review, program impact assessment, and other intermediary review processes that support excellence in NIC’s programming.
The Coordinator works in close partnership with the Dean and/or Director Office of instructional areas, Institutional Analysis and Planning, and the Office of the Vice-President Academic, and is expected to advance NIC’s commitments to Indigenization, and to equity, diversity, and inclusion through every aspect of QA practice.

Duties & Responsibilities
1.0 QUALITYASSURANCECOORDINATION
-
Ensure that effective standardized policies and procedures are in place college-wide to support comprehensive QA services.
-
Provide functional leadership (i.e., subject-matter direction without formal supervisory authority) for QA processes and practices across the College.
-
Develop tactical service plans, in collaboration with the Education Team, to enhance QA processes for learners and faculty across the NIC region.
-
Collaborate with the Education Team and Institutional Analysis and Planning to develop and operationalize program review and program impact assessment schedules.
-
Monitor QA processes by analyzing QA data and trends, and through ongoing consultation.
-
Research opportunities to improve service and, in consultation with the AVP College Experience, plan and implement service enhancements.
Ensure QA practices are conducted openly, with integrity, and in the College’s best interests.
2.0 INDIGENIZATION**,** EQUITY**,** DIVERSITY**,** AND****INCLUSION

Embed the principles of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and the BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA) in QA frameworks, tools, and conversations.

Work in respectful partnership with Indigenous Education and with First Nations communities served by NIC to ensure program review and quality enhancement reflect Indigenous ways of knowing and learning.

Apply an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens to all QA processes, including learning outcomes review, curriculum mapping, and evidence gathering.
Support faculty and departments in identifying and addressing systemic barriers to learner success.
3.0 PROGRAMREVIEWANDQUALITYENHANCEMENT

Lead the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of program review and quality enhancement initiatives at NIC.

Facilitate departments through program review, including learning outcomes development, curriculum mapping, departmental identity, goal-setting and PD planning, evidence gathering, course development, and curricular alignment.

Lead or co-lead small, medium, and large QA projects, including project management, communication, tracking, and reporting on outcomes.

Support faculty and departments in interpreting QA data and translating findings into actionable improvements.
Coordinate any other QA or quality enhancement processes identified by the College.
4.0 ENGAGEMENTANDCOMMUNICATION

Communicate regularly with the Office of the Vice-President Academic and the Education Team to align QA priorities with institutional needs.

Organize and chair QA meetings, working groups, and consultation sessions across campuses.

Communicate QA processes, expectations, and outcomes clearly to the College community in written and oral formats appropriate to varied audiences.
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, external agencies, and accrediting bodies.
5.0 BUDGETANDFINANCIAL****MANAGEMENT
- Develop and manage the QA budget, accountable to the AVP College Experience or designate.
Approve and monitor expenditures within the authorized budget and in accordance with College policy.

Required Education & Experience
- A completed Master’s degree in an area aligned with NIC’s instructional delivery.
- A minimum of five (5) full-time-equivalent years of successful post-secondary teaching experience in credentialed programming.
- A minimum of three (3) years of direct experience facilitating Quality Assurance Process Audit (QAPA) and related processes such as program review, program impact assessment, and program design and development. Note: teaching, project management, and QA experience may run concurrently.
- Demonstrated experience as an educational developer or teaching and learning consultant, with examples of relevant projects and outcomes.
Demonstrated project management experience, including leading collaborative initiatives from planning through evaluation.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Strong working knowledge of the BC post-secondary system and familiarity with QA frameworks elsewhere in Canada, with the ability to apply that knowledge to NIC’s context and culture.

Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance and quality enhancement, and how QA connects to curriculum development, teaching practices, and institutional change.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate program review and curriculum development activities, including learning outcomes development, curriculum mapping, course development, curricular alignment, and reflective practice.

Demonstrated commitment to Indigenization, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and the ability to embed these in QA practice.

Substantive experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, identifying appropriate research methodologies, and translating findings to support evidence-informed decision-making.

Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex, technical, or sensitive information clearly to varied audiences and to produce polished formal writing with strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coordinate QA activities across faculty, staff, and administration without direct line authority.

Demonstrated ability to manage challenging conversations and ambiguity, applying change-management principles to support faculty and departments through unfamiliar processes.

Experience with survey tools and standard office productivity software; comfortable working with institutional data systems.

Ability to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team, including occasional evening, weekend, and inter-campus travel as required.
