The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist Engineer, Asset Management, to join our Asset Management and Engineering team in Toronto, ON. This is a permanent position. The Senior Specialist Engineer, Asset Management is responsible for improving the predictability and effectiveness of maintenance, inspection, planning, scheduling and execution across Vale Base Metals. This role is accountable for ensuring that maintenance work is consistently planned, scheduled, and controlled using a common enterprise approach, resulting in improved asset reliability, safer execution, and more efficient use of maintenance resources across 17 VBM operations. Additionally in this position you will · Ensure predictable and effective maintenance execution across Vale Base Metals by establishing and governing a consistent enterprise approach to maintenance work: inspections, planning, scheduling, execution, and control. · Provide enterprise governance for maintenance work management, ensuring common standards, roles, decision rules, and expectations are applied consistently across all operations. · Enable alignment between maintenance and operations, ensuring maintenance work priorities support production stability, safety, and asset reliability. · Consolidate and communicate maintenance execution performance (Indicators and KPIs) across operations, providing leadership with visibility of execution discipline, backlog health, schedule adherence, and systemic improvement needs. · Act as a technical authority and advisor to site and regional leaders on maintenance work management practices and performance improvement. · Ensure maintenance management systems and supporting tools are used consistently and effectively, with clear data standards and governance to support decision‑making. · Strengthen organizational capability in maintenance work management by supporting planners, schedulers, supervisors, and leaders through coaching, guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives. · Communication in two languages fluently, English and Portuguese, to have a strong approach with all site level, to the field crew until managerial level.
