About the role
Hays is working with a growing Canadian contractor that specializes in the delivery of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water and sewer infrastructure, biomethanization facilities, and other complex municipal infrastructure projects. The organization operates as both a General Contractor and self-perform contractor, providing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls expertise on critical infrastructure projects across Canada.
With a strong backlog of work and several major project awards, they are looking to add a Mechanical Project Manager to their team.
The Opportunity As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will lead projects from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout, working alongside clients, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Projects are highly technical and varied in nature, ranging from treatment plant upgrades and pumping station improvements to large-scale municipal infrastructure and environmental projects.
No two projects are the same.
Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of projects from award through completion Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and reporting Coordinate mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls scopes Manage procurement, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders Lead project meetings with clients, consultants, and internal teams Oversee change management, contract administration, and cost control Support commissioning, start-up, and project turnover activities Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget
What We're Looking For Experience managing construction projects within water/wastewater, municipal infrastructure, utilities, process-mechanical, industrial, or environmental sectors Background working for a General Contractor, Mechanical Contractor, Design-Build Contractor, Utility Contractor, or Specialty Trade Contractor Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and project controls Experience coordinating multiple disciplines and stakeholders on technically complex projects Strong leadership and communication skills A solutions-oriented approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced project environment
