Role Summary We’re looking for an Account Manager to join our team in Canada. The person in this role will report to the Account Director but will be responsible for independently managing client relationships and accounts. Summary of Home Department The Account Manager lies within the Delivery Department. They own a portfolio of support accounts (monthly retainer) and are responsible for planning the work, resourcing the team, responding to client requests and growing their accounts. We provide value to our clients through the work that we do and the more value we provide, the more they’ll entrust us with. But it all starts with a foundation of outstanding project management and customer service.
Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client accounts, building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships. Develop a deep understanding of each client’s organization, goals, challenges, and industry landscape. Conduct regular check-ins with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for growth. Anticipate client needs and proactively present solutions that align with their objectives. Handle client feedback, concerns, and escalations with professionalism and urgency. Account Planning & Growth Develop strategic account plans that identify opportunities for expansion and increased engagement. Manage client retainer agreements, including scope definition, hour allocation, and monthly deliverables. Track retainer budget and provide regular reporting to clients on hours consumed and remaining capacity. Optimize retainer workflows to maximize value delivery and ensure efficient use of allocated resources. Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities. Monitor account health metrics and implement strategies to improve client retention and satisfaction. Prepare and present proposals, project scopes, and strategic recommendations to clients. Continuously evaluate account performance and metrics aligned with the agency’s strategic initiatives. Project Management & Delivery Support Define project scope and requirements in collaboration with clients and key voices. Create monthly sprints and weekly work plans and develop project schedules for successful completion. Monitor resource allocation and coordinate with internal teams to ensure adequate staffing. Facilitate onboarding meetings, status updates, and project retrospectives with clients and internal teams. Track project progress, budgets, and timelines, making adjustments as necessary and establishing communication schedules to update stakeholders. Review the quality of work completed with project teams to ensure it meets both client expectations and project standards. Support internal teams in resolving project barriers, managing scope changes, and addressing delays. Document all project information and facilitate retrospectives to capture key learnings. Serve as an escalation point for urgent client issues, including occasional after-hours support when required.
Qualifications and Skills 3+ years experience in account management or client services (digital agency, web development, or custom application environment are considered an asset). Organized, high attention to detail and ability to create practical plans Proven track record of managing and growing client relationships Understanding of digital project delivery: custom website designs, responsive design, UX design, content strategy, WordPress, Custom Applications Familiarity with project management methodologies (agile, waterfall) and how they impact client delivery Proficient with various client management and collaboration tools: Asana, Slack, Google Docs, etc. Experience successfully managing multiple client accounts simultaneously in a remote capacity Ability to be successful and autonomous in a remote setting Strong relationship-building skills and emotional intelligence; sensitivity to client and team dynamics Clear understanding of agency team roles: strategy, content, design, development, QA testing Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Nice-to-haves PMP or CAPM, SCRUM certification an asset Experiences scoping and estimating agency projects External client experience is an asset Remote work experience is an asset Familiarity with WordPress and technical aptitude are assets
Working Arrangements This is a full-time, remote position, with the option to work from our Vancouver office. The expected schedule is 37.5 hours per week. We offer flexibility in working hours; however, team members are required to be available and online between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM PT. This is to ensure responsiveness for clients and team members and to foster a collaborative environment. As a client-facing role, occasional after-hours availability is required to respond to urgent client needs or critical issues as they arise. These occasions are infrequent.
Salary Range and Benefits Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 On top of your base salary you will receive the following benefits: 3 weeks vacation 10 Wellness days (a combination of flex and sick days) 2 Volunteer days Approximately 2 weeks paid time off during December office closures Flexible ‘work from anywhere’ remote-first working hours and collaborative work environment Access to Vancouver office spaces.
