As a Consultant within Community Integration Strategies, you will support inclusive, equitable, and integrated service delivery across the organization by applying an equity lens to the development and implementation of policies, plans, operational processes, programs, initiatives, and services, in collaboration with business units and other City departments. Primary duties include:

  • Consult with a wide range of key partners to assist them in embedding equity-based approaches within all aspects of their operations, policies, service plans and budgets.
  • Work collaboratively with other internal supports to ensure alignment of equity-related initiatives.
  • Act as an organizational ambassador for Community Integration Strategies initiatives, including equity-focused programs and funding opportunities.
  • Support the development and advancement of Community Integration Strategies initiatives in consultation with internal and external parties, including Council members, senior leadership, community and non-profit organizations. Create policy options, analyze opportunities and risks, assess capacity, and provide strategic direction to business units on equity-related issues.
  • Manage projects related to equity initiatives. This includes supporting the development of project charters, coordinating action plans, determining timelines, establishing performance measures, and addressing project barriers.
  • Create project documentation, report on performance metrics, plan and organize meetings, strategic sessions and workshops.

Qualifications

  • A degree and at least 5 years of experience in the areas of policy and program development, systems planning, project management, community development and/or government/partner relations or related fields.
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is an asset.
  • Specialized knowledge of and experience with equity, diversity, and inclusion activities, coalition building, and systemic change within a community context is considered an asset.
  • Lived experience as a member of a marginalized group or experience working with and as an ally to persons from marginalized groups is considered an asset.
  • You have strong communication skills, can synthesize information, build relationships, and work collaboratively with various partners.
  • Success in this position requires political acumen, strong customer focus, critical analysis, attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple projects at once and the ability to effectively navigate change in a complex organizational environment.

Note: Applicants selected for an interview will be asked to complete a work simulation exercise and prepare and deliver a presentation.

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees.
