About the role
The Big Picture
The Staff Supplier Quality Engineer works with suppliers to continuously improve performance of key components (reduce scrap, improve process stability and performance) by implementing process controls and develop quality assurance plans. They track data, will identify improvement projects, and manages cross-functional implementations to improve supplier performance. The Staff Supplier Quality Engineer requires leadership skills that would enable them to drive major Quality improvement projects across functions (Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain).
Your Impact Through Innovation
- Conduct supplier quality audits (ISO 9001/13485) on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with Baylis Medical Technologies standards.
- Promote the use of CI techniques at Suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control.
- Initiate and follow-up SCAR to ensure complete and effective RCA and Corrective Action implementation.
- Lead Supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistency meeting Baylis Medical Technologies requirements.
- Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply
- Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in database.
- Develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with Suppliers.
- May give technical guidance to Quality Inspectors, or other quality staff assigned to work on common projects.
- Adhere to and promote the adherence to all Corporate, Quality and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
Your Unique Expertise
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer in manufacturing environment, on top of additional quality engineering experience
- Must be a critical thinker and active listener with good time management skills in order to work with Suppliers and Project Management teams to define deliverables.
- Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes with very little information provided.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Advanced knowledge of lean-six sigma related tools, including, but not limited to SPC, FMEA, MSA, DOE and Quality Systems.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485 or ISO 9001.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and oral).
- Interest in biomedical or health-related industry.
- Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Working experience from a regulated industry such as medical device, aeronautical or pharma industries.
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification.

This role has a base salary range of $73,000 CAD to $90,000 CAD. Final offers are determined based on individual skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors.
