Job Status: Limited regular part time position
Estimated Probable Duration: until February 5, 2027 (may be extended)
Union Affiliation: CUPE 4705 Inside Unit
Hours of Work: Up to 48 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: Some evening and weekend work will be required
Range of Pay: Group 9 - $30.49 to $36.07 per hour
The start date will follow the selection process.

Main Function: Responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and promotion of library programs.
Characteristic Duties: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Libraries and Heritage Resources and the day-to-day direction of the Co-ordinator of Outreach Programs and Partnerships.
- Assist with the planning, design, and delivery of library programs and services.
- Perform in-house and outreach public relations duties such as school visits, tours, etc.
- Evaluate and maintain statistics on library programming.
- Support partnerships throughout the community.
- Plan, create, and prepare displays and campaigns to promote library programs.
- Keep abreast of new developments in library programming and services.
- Assist the public in the use of the library and provide reader’s assistance.
- Provide library services including circulation of library materials, placing reserves and renewing library materials, checking shelves for materials using search lists, processing deliveries and exchanges, cataloguing, sorting, and shelving materials, and reading and dressing shelves.
- Pick up and deliver seasonal library items throughout library locations.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Training:
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in a related discipline such as social services, marketing, library technician, education.
Experience:
- Over one (1) year up to and including two and one-half (2½) years of related experience.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate creativity.
- Knowledge of various computer applications including Windows based systems (e.g., word processing and spreadsheet software, files maintenance, information input and retrieval, and the Internet) and online collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint).
- Knowledge of library automated systems an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detailed work.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- French verbal and written skills an asset.
- Satisfactory health, attendance, and former employment history.
- Provide, at own cost, a current Criminal Record Check.
May require the use of a person or CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
Competencies: Competency Library - Level 1 Proficiency
This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.
Development opportunity range of pay: $29.72 to $34.49 per hour. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced range until the minimum qualifications have been met.
