Heidelberg Materials is currently looking for a Safety Manager to join our local team in Delta, BC. The Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of complex safety and health programs. What You’ll Get To Do Implement and support all Safety and Health programs including the Heidelberg Materials Safety/Health Management System Provides ongoing safety and health support and guidance to the Delta Cement plant operational management and employees Continuous interpretation and compliance planning for current and emerging safety regulatory requirements at all levels affecting the assigned facilities including Federal, Provincial, and local Monitor and proactively report facility Safety and Health performance Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of company guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance Proactively manage safety and health of employees to continuously improve the company’s safety and health performance Conduct and review safety audits; identify and resolve high-risk hazards; investigate incidents to determine root causes; and develop strategic recommendations to prevent recurrence Serve as a subject matter expert; deliver advanced training; mentor lower-level professionals; and manage large-scale safety initiatives or programs Who we are looking for Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety A minimum of 10 years of relevant safety experience Holds or is pursuing a CRSP designation Strong WorkSafeBC background in heavy manufacturing, building materials or construction Experience and competence in developing and implementing safety programs Strong management, interpersonal, and influencing skills at all levels from senior operations to plant level employees Strong claims management experience Proven coaching and teaching abilities Ability to form, facilitate, and maintain internal and cross functional teams Strong Microsoft Office skills Work Environment Role requires conducting business in a heavy industrial manufacturing plant with mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels undefined What we have to offe: Competitive base salary and participation in our annual incentive plan Highly competitive benefits programs Pension retirement savings plan with an automatic company contribution as well as matching contributions Our pre-employment process includes reference checks, a medical screening, a criminal record check and a drivers abstract check.
