As BAU/BAS Project Manager, you will provide direction and supervision of Building Automation and Construction projects to ensure successful delivery. You will oversee project status, and work with other project managers. Your project management skills along with your building automation (BAU) and building automation systems (BAS) technology knowledge/experience, and financial acumen will be critical to your success in this role! Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations. Travel/visit within areas covered by the branch.
This is a hands-on technical role, leveraging your BAU/BAS knowledge and expertise is key.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Planning & Execution
Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs. Schedule installation, start-up, commissioning, turnover and warranty. Direct and supervise the development of project plans and ensure plans are followed. Ensure schedules are maintained and projects proceed in accordance with contract documents and customer expectations.
Financial & Project Performance Management
Deliver project revenue forecasting and reporting results to Branch Operations Manager. Manage revenue and gross margin to achieve monthly and annual business plans. Monitor project status and control job costs to maintain margins.
Operations & Resource Management
Oversee supervision of all installation and retrofit work and personnel on assigned jobs. Determine resource needs (eg staffing tools) and provide any corresponding documentation. Build and maintain an effective operations organization committed to customer and employee satisfaction and profitable growth.
Sales & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Provide technical and operational support for the sales teams including proper pricing and scope of work definition for project opportunities. Communicate project information (eg equipment changes) to engineering operations and sales employees as needed to minimize cost and delay throughout the estimating bidding and operations phases of each project.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Act as the main point of customer contact for the project delivery and issues mitigation. Foster strong customer relationships and ensure a positive project experience. Communicate project updates and changes to customers and internal stakeholders.
Location: supporting projects in the Vancouver BC area.
What will you need to succeed?
Education:
B.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in Building Automation (BAU) and Building Automation Systems (BAS). technology within the construction industry. 3–5 years of Project Management and/or Project Development experience within the Building Automation and/or Construction industry.
Technical Knowledge & Skills:
Strong knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of CAN/ULC standards and Canadian Building and Electrical Codes. Proficiency with Microsoft Project or equivalent project management software. Financial acumen includes costing, budgeting, forecasting, and project financial management.
Core Competencies:
Strong communication written and verbal communication skills in English; strong presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, consultants, customers, and executive stakeholders. Strong planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Additional Requirements:
A valid and unrestricted G/Class 5 driver’s licence is required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program for travel to customer sites within assigned region(s). Ability to travel to customer sites within the assigned region(s).
Asset(s):
Previous experience as a Field Technician in the Building Automation domain. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. Professional designations such as P.Eng., LEED, CEM, CFAA, or other relevant industry certifications.
[BONUS ELIGIBLE: Salary is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $85,000 CAD - $110,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits.]
