At STELIA North America, we are offering the opportunity for a career that is out of this world! We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Engineering Team in beautiful Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. An affiliate of the Airbus Group of Companies, STELIA is an aerospace and defence company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of composite components and assemblies. Headquartered in Lunenburg, NS, and with a site in Mirabel, QC, we operate more than 150,000 sq feet of facilities dedicated to operations, manufacturing and administration.

The Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering support, direction, and guidance in the fabrication of production parts in accordance with (IAW) the customer requirements. They collaborate closely with Operations, Programs, Engineering, and customers to resolve issues and optimize processes, while driving continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate activities internally and with the customer, to evaluate and resolve engineering-related production items encountered in assigned processes and programs.
  • Maintain Configuration Control of assigned products and processes.
  • Updating and implementation of Product Definition with Production Technical Leaders.
  • Serve as member of the Material Review Board.
  • Provide direction with respect to acceptance of product and selection/approval of rework.
  • Review production processes, engineering specifications, and related information to improve current knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures and activates in assigned products and processes.

You have:

  • Degree in engineering or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution
    • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in design an asset
  • Registered or eligible for registration in a Professional Engineering designation program.
  • Experience in aerostructures and composite manufacturing process, such as:
    • Composite layup and fiber placement
    • Composite trimming and machining
    • Bonding, sealing, hardware installation (composite and metal structures)
    • Finish application (composite and metallic structures)
    • Metrology
  • Non-destructive inspection
  • Excellent communication skills including technical writing skills.
  • Project management skills, including scheduling/planning, budget and resource management, work breakdown and estimation, progress reporting, lessons learned.
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software, CATIA V5 preferred and CATIA Composite Workbench or Fibersim an asset.
  • Knowledge/Training with various production philosophies (LEAN, JIT, 5S, etc.).
  • Ability to work with and functionally interpret both contemporary 3D part models and legacy 2D drawing packages c/w detailed GD&T requirements.
