In this role, you will drive department performance by leading and coaching store management teams to meet targets. You will collaborate closely with operations and retail leadership to implement best practices and ensure consistency across locations. Your expertise will help optimize execution standards, enhance customer experience, and foster employee engagement. Please note that the territory to cover is Ottawa area. Here’s what you’ll be focusing: Based on priorities plan define by Director, Execution Support (DES), drive performance to meet targets Articulate key performance indicators (KPIs) to store and department management Assist in the creation of actions plans and budgets; problem solve with the store management Field questions from department store management on sales techniques and cost controls Collaborate with store management on priorities and industry leading department standards Communicate department priorities and best practices regularly to Retail management and Operations Continually assess effectiveness of standards and provide feedback for improvement Manage functional and technical training for Retail Managers Coordinate training logistics and lead sessions on a regular basis Be a resource for department store managers on specialized area of expertise Implement curriculum and content created by Operations Standards and Planning Assess quality of training content and delivery and address opportunities for improvement Drive employee engagement and customer experience in department programs Consider and incorporate employee engagement behaviours and customer experience attributes into department materials and communication Monitor compliance results within department and division of responsibility Review compliance results including Integrated Health Management and Food Safety results Report trends and opportunity departments to department store management What we’re looking for: At least 5 years of experience leading a store department Experience working with both corporate and franchise store networks Background in Fresh produce A valid driver’s license to travel to stores in the Ottawa area Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop Department Managers In-depth knowledge of retail operations processes, tools/systems and merchandising standards Strong financial and business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders to drive meaningful change Proven ability to make data-driven decisions and implement positive change Who we are Sobeys is one of Canada’s leading grocery retailers, with more than 1,600 stores across all 10 provinces and banners including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, and Lawtons Drug Stores.
