About The Role
The Senior Project Engineer at GE Vernova plays a pivotal role in overseeing the engineering and design aspects of high-stakes projects within the power industry. This position involves leading technical teams, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering efforts, and ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements. The Senior Project Engineer will serve as a key technical interface among internal teams, clients, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and a proven track record in managing complex engineering projects, preferably within nuclear or advanced reactor environments.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited institution. A minimum of 8 years of experience in power industry project management, design, or operations is essential. Preferred qualifications include a nuclear operator license or relevant training certification, comprehensive knowledge of nuclear business products and processes, and familiarity with government contracts and regulatory standards. Additionally, candidates with experience in boiling water reactors or advanced nuclear technologies, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera are highly desirable. For certain roles, certifications such as Six Sigma or participation in GE leadership programs will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop accurate estimates, project schedules, and change orders, ensuring alignment with project scope and objectives. Provide technical and delivery leadership throughout the project lifecycle, overseeing engineering activities and ensuring quality standards are met. Manage engineering interfaces across multiple disciplines, coordinating efforts between business units, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate seamless project execution. Supervise subcontractor engineering work, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines. Identify critical technical issues, define their root causes, and implement effective resolution strategies promptly. Assess technical risks associated with projects and develop mitigation plans to minimize potential impacts on project delivery. Ensure all engineering activities comply with customer requirements, internal standards, and regulatory guidelines. Support business development efforts by contributing technical insights to proposals and marketing initiatives. Maintain regular communication with project management regarding progress, resource utilization, and any delays or issues affecting project timelines. Coordinate engineering design reviews with senior engineers to ensure project milestones are achieved successfully. Review engineering performance, ensuring conformance to design procedures, quality standards, and completeness of engineering documentation. Manage design change notices, identify change order opportunities, and assist in cost segregation and change order processing. Conduct configuration management reviews to maintain project integrity and documentation accuracy.
