About the role

Girls Inc. is looking for a Program Coordinator who can help out a small organization grow through planning, leading and implementing in-school/after-school programs for girls ages 5-18. The ideal candidate for this role would be an adaptable and proactive professional, immersed in Indigenous culture/language/communities and capable of supporting Girls Inc. to ensure smooth, inspiring and fun programs for the girls. While your primary focus will be on assisting and implementing programing activities, we are looking for someone interested in contributing to PR, project management or other functions where needed. Who we are: Girls Inc. is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire and empower all girls to be strong, smart and bold. We provide girls 5 to 18 years old with the knowledge and skills needed to break free from gender stereotypes, create social change, be proud of who they are and be confident in their own skin. Girls Inc. delivers life-changing programs with research-based curricula, delivered by trained professionals in a girls-only safe learning environment. We equip girls to achieve academically, lead healthy and physically active lives, manage money, navigate media messages and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. To implement our programs, we partner closely with local schools and community organizations. Our staff and volunteers care deeply about the general well-being of our girls, and we are proud to be the leading advocate for girls and young women’s rights and opportunities.

General Duties: Under supervision of the Program Director, Program Coordinator is responsible for providing direct program facilitation support for in-/after-school programs. You will: Plan, lead, implement and evaluate programs targeting girls ages 5-18, including but limited to developing workplan, coordinating with partners, securing logistical requirements, facilitating in-class sessions, conducting surveys and analyzing outcomes. Ensure general safety and confidentiality of participating girls Facilitate girls’ personal development process through educational-recreational experiences Keep track on activity status, particularly registration and expected outcomes Convey messages around Girls’ Inc. philosophy and positive community development Ensure timely reporting of activity status and child welfare concerns Facilitate program activities by working closely with volunteers and community members Assist in monitoring budget flows, indicators and outcomes for effective project management Communicate directly with parents, guardians, Program Director and Executive Director regarding wellbeing of participants where needed Actively engage in PR efforts by utilizing social media and other channels Share strong passion around inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold Undertake other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum of 3-year direct group facilitation experience transferrable to duties outlined above Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and gender-sensitive programing Expertise and demonstrated experience in Indigenous-informed teaching methods (eg. Seven Sacred Teachings, land-based education, blanket exercise) would be an exceptional asset Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong attention to detail in project/case management Great problem solving skills with ability to multi-task Able to organize and manage time effectively while learning quickly Self-starter with team-oriented approach to meeting goals and objectives Comfort with Microsoft Office, Google Suites and social media Background clearance from the RCMP and social services High-school diploma, relevant post-secondary education preferred Relevant experience or qualification will be considered Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
