Cégep Champlain St. Lawrence is seeking the services of a STUDENT ACTIVITIES COUNSELLOR – SOCIOCULTURAL.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Coordinator HR, Student Experience and Communications, the incumbent will organize socio-cultural and community activities while considering established internal policies. He or she will also be responsible for coordinating student recruitment.
The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the student experience is at the heart of priorities and that these activities are aligned with the mission, values, and vision of the College;
  • Participate in the preparation, management, and monitoring of the budget for the socio-cultural and entrepreneurial activities;
  • Ensure that the rules of conduct and safety (as stipulated in the student conduct policy) are respected during student activities;
  • Organize summer sociocultural camps;
  • Participate in planning, organization, and coordination of all sociocultural and entrepreneurial activities, the recruitment of coaches, club presidents, development, and management. organization of calendars and schedules of activities, etc.;
  • Attend sociocultural and entrepreneurial events. Support the organization and ensure the smooth running of these activities;
  • Act as a resource person and facilitator for our coaches and club presidents so that they can offer the best student experience to our students;
  • Recruit, maintain, and act as a mentor for students who are members of clubs, groups, and associations;
  • Advise, suggest and participate in the purchase of equipment and specialized material for its sector;
  • Advise and help students in the organization of extracurricular activities of a sociocultural or entrepreneurial nature;
  • Act as a resource person for the members of the student association and uphold regular contact with them, in particular by planning and organizing structured meetings on a regular and continuous basis;
  • Participate in community life activities, such as assisting students in the development and implementation of educational programs, and activities relating to the community dimension of student life;
  • In collaboration with the College's Communications Counsellor, may be called upon to develop, organize and carry out various communications for their sector of activity on our various platforms;
  • When required and necessary, represent the College at meetings related to student experience;
  • Act as project manager for events such as Student for a day and Sociocultural Banquet;
  • Participate in the organization and holding of special College activities (open house, graduation, sports banquet, etc.);
  • Participate in activities to recognize student engagement (Gala méritas, Propulse ton idée, Ose entreprendre, Forces AVENIR, gala, etc.);
  • Coordinate and participate in the recruitment of students in secondary schools;
  • Could be called upon to coordinate the work of support staff in his/her sector;
  • When required, may be called upon to participate in various College committees;
  • Perform all other related tasks when required.

This job requires occasional evening and weekend work as well as overnight traveling.

EDUCATION
Must hold an undergraduate university degree in an appropriate area of specialization, particularly in the following areas: recreation or animation and cultural research.

Required Tests : The candidates will be required to submit to English and French language tests.

Salary Scale : Between $54 862 and $91 023 per year

Anticipated Start Date : 2026-07-01

Start of Posting Period : 2026-05-21
