About the role

Tartu College, established in 1970, is a distinctive independent student residence. We are a Not-For-Profit organization dedicated to providing a unique and enriching experience for university students during the academic term. Our building hosts a dynamic academic and cultural program on its ground floors, including for Estonian Museum Canada libraries, archives, community spaces and Estonian Life, a leading Estonian newspaper serving as a central source of news and events for the Estonian-Canadian community, preserving its heritage through language.

Position summary: We are seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Archive, Communications and Development Specialist to support our VEMU Estonian Museum Canada team. The successful candidate will contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Estonian language and Estonian diaspora cultural heritage while supporting communications, community engagement, project development, and fundraising initiatives.

Key responsibilities: Support the day-to-day operations of the archive and museum. Assist with the organization, documentation, and digitization of collections. Create and edit content for websites, newsletters, social media, and publications. Translate and proofread materials in Estonian and English. Support project planning, grant applications, reporting, and international collaborations. Assist with fundraising activities, donor communications, and community outreach. Help organize events, exhibitions, educational programs, and meetings. Respond to inquiries from visitors, researchers, and partners. Maintain donor and contact databases and support record-keeping for fundraising activities.

Qualifications: Master's degree in humanities, communications, information studies, or a related field. Excellent written and spoken proficiency in Estonian and English Experience writing grants in both Estonian and English Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively. Experience in archives, museums, libraries, or cultural organizations.

Assets: Experience in project coordination, fundraising, communications, or content creation. Familiarity with digital collections, databases, and cultural heritage technologies. Demonstrated professional or scholarly interest in cultural heritage preservation, archives, or diaspora communities.

Additional information: Job Status: Full-Time Job Location: Toronto, Canada Work Arrangement: On-site Benefits: Extended health care benefits including dental care after 3 months of employment.
