Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Facilities Management and Development, the Director of Engineering provides leadership and oversight for NAIT’s engineering, technical services, asset management, capital projects, and infrastructure integration activities. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Facilities Management & Development, this position is responsible for delivering coordinated engineering and infrastructure solutions that support NAIT’s strategic priorities, institutional growth, operational continuity, and long-term campus development objectives.

The Director leads the integration of Technical Services, Asset Management, Capital Projects, and ASC FMD-Led Works into a cohesive operational portfolio focused on engineering excellence, capital stewardship, infrastructure resiliency, and effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership – lead the engineering and infrastructure functions within FMD Technical Services Oversight – Oversee Technical Services including mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, and technical advisory functions Asset Management Leadership – Lead development and execution of IAM plans including: Capital Maintenance and Renewal; Capital Renovation Program; Major Maintenance Planning; and BLIMS submissions Capital Projects & ASC Oversight – Provide executive oversight for Capital Projects and ASC FMD-led Works Operational Excellence – Ensure effective coordination between Technical Services, Maintenance & Operations, Capital Projects, and Planning Teams. Leadership and Team Development – Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams and managers across engineering and infrastructure functions

Skills And Abilities

Proven experience in leading and managing a diverse team of facilities professionals. Strong understanding of asset management frameworks, capital planning, engineering systems, and institutional infrastructure operations. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic facilities management plans. Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets and resources. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. A commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and sustainable work environment. Proven experience in change management, risk management and strategic planning and people management. Progressive experience large complex organization with a diverse building portfolio.

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Asset Management, or related discipline. Professional designation such as P.Eng., PMP, or related credential preferred. Minimum 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities, infrastructure, engineering, or capital project delivery. Experience in post-secondary, healthcare, municipal, or large institutional environments considered an asset.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

Remuneration: Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The compensation range for this job posting is : $134,240.60 - $177,849.10
