Then you might be an excellent fit for a position as a Senior Policy Coordination Analyst.Reporting to the Manager of Policy Coordination, as the Senior Policy Coordination Analyst, you will provide strategic policy analysis, research, and coordination services to a wide range of stakeholders to support government priorities. In this role, you would support and interact with the Director, Executive Director, and cross-divisional and cross-ministry stakeholders.Some responsibilities for this role include:
Provide centralized coordination and support for the ministry in an environment where priorities can shift unexpectedly and timelines are often tight. Proactively identify and manage coordination issues and challenges with respect to policy and legislative items for the department, and develop options for resolution. Provides advice to the manager, director, executive director and divisions relating to the navigation of policy items through department and government mechanisms. Perform research as a basis for a variety of strategic initiatives and to inform policy development, to identify issues and emerging trends, and to ensure initiatives align and best practices are utilized. Provide strategic advice on Cabinet Report and Regulatory Amendment packages, liaising with divisional colleagues to confirm policy and legislative scheduling requirements and options. Promote, develop, and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with staff across the ministry and the Government of Alberta. Develop consolidated process documents and other tools (workshops) to assist program areas in developing documents/understanding processes. Lead ad hoc initiatives from inception to completion in collaboration with others, including development of decision-making documents. When necessary, act in the capacity of the Manager, Policy Coordination.
Areas of knowledge that will support you in this role:
Strong understanding of and experience with the Government of Alberta policy development and decision-making/approval process. Extensive research abilities, including the ability to consolidate large and diverse amounts of information. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, in order to communicate clear and compelling positions. Strong relationship-building and inter-personal skills in order to communicate and collaborate with senior officials in the ministry, government, and external stakeholders. Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills are necessary to anticipate next steps on diverse and changing files, manage a wide range of responsibilities, and to synthesize and analyze input provided from different areas.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements for the Senior Strategic Initiatives Analysts:
University graduation in a related field (political science, public administration, policy, business, humanities, social sciences etc.). Minimum four years related research, policy coordination, and policy analysis and development experience.
Assets:
Experience planning and leading complex strategic projects. Experience with government systems, policy cycle and policy approval processes. Experience preparing policy documents, reports, briefing notes, and/or presentations providing recommendations to senior leadership and/or stakeholders.
The following equivalencies may be considered:
A related Masters plus a minimum of 2 years related experience. A related two-year diploma plus a minimum of 6 years related experience. A related one-year certificate plus a minimum of 7 years related experience. No post-secondary education plus a minimum of 8 years related experience.
