Nature and Scope

The Curriculum Coordinator plays a key role in overseeing the development, review, renewal, and continuous improvement of SIIT's curriculum. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.

General Accountability

The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for maintaining efficient processes related to curriculum development, implementation and review. This position leads and supports the research and development of all components of the curriculum, including the program and learning outcomes, instructional and assessment methods appropriate for the achievement of those outcomes, as well as the ongoing review and updating of content and evaluation of courses. The Coordinator will provide oversight and guidance to Curriculum Writers, ensuring that components of the curriculum including learning outcomes, assessments, and content are aligned and developed in accordance with institutional standards.

Specific Accountabilities

The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the ongoing development and design and re-design of the curriculum related to the programs offered at SIIT. This position is required to provide expert advice on all aspects of curriculum development. This role ensures that programs are technically accurate, culturally relevant, and pedagogically sound. This position works closely with academic programming staff to ensure courses and course content are relevant and meet market needs. This position includes the following accountabilities:

Curriculum Management

Plan, develop, implement, revise, and evaluate curriculum in keeping with changes in practice, legislation, and regulation Maintain responsibility for curriculum project timelines, deliverables, and quality assurance, ensuring curriculum materials are completed accurately, on schedule, and to institutional standards Integrate First Nation's perspectives, land-based learning, and community input where appropriate Work with Instructors, Program Coordinators, subject matter experts, and industry representatives to maintain currency and technical accuracy Collaborate with Academic Development team members to align curriculum with institutional standards and delivery modes Advise in the selection and use of various media and technology in the learning environment In collaboration with Academic Development team, develop learning outcomes for new curriculum, along with instructional resources and evaluation strategies, coupled with reviewing learning outcomes for existing curriculum Collaborate with academic staff and provide support for pilot delivery of curriculum and revise curriculum materials Assist in creating exam/assessment blueprints for courses in both Word document format and in digital learning platform Understand student educational needs and incorporate adult-learning principles and instructional design best practices into the development of instructional materials, which include instructor-led presentations, learner manuals, and guides with instructor notes Assist in the establishment of a curriculum and program review framework, process and timelines to complete reviews in a timely and accurate manner Schedule the review and renewal cycles for all courses; maintain a syllabus database Assist in the development workflow processes, standards, and practices that will guide curriculum related projects at all stages and revise as necessary Assess programs and courses for transfer credit potential Perform curriculum mapping, coding, and other related activities Assist and support the continuous improvement of work integrated learning practices, online learning, and other projects as it relates to curriculum at SIIT

Reporting & Compliance

Prepare required documents for release of copyrighted materials Analyze and review curriculum for compliance with SIIT policies, credentialing, and other regulatory bodies Maintain necessary documentation and records Ensure practices adhere to SIIT processes and procedures for consistent, efficient delivery with emphasis on continual improvement Consult with stakeholders regularly to manage curriculum development review process Maintain content integrity of assigned programs through ongoing analysis, delivery observation, and program reviews Conduct research and consult with key collaborators for curriculum development purposes Identify resources required to develop and deliver training projects

Relationship Management

Engage employees to identify potential issues or challenges and assist in developing solutions Collaborate and collect information as required to support successful outcomes Provide regular and effective communication to stakeholders to ensure they stay informed and engaged Work collaboratively with subject matter experts and program advisory committee members Demonstrate leadership and initiative in sharing research and outcomes with key academic leaders Contribute to SIIT's strategic effectiveness by representing and participating on internal and external committees, as required

Resource Allocation

Monitor budgets for all projects and other initiatives as requested Ensure sufficient resources are available to implement projects and initiatives Review purchase orders pertaining to the projects Review invoices and expenses for payment Ensure resources are allocated in accordance with the financial planning and operating budget

People Management & Leadership

Coach, train and develop employees to ensure growth and development of those individuals Ensure a positive, diverse, inclusive work and learning environment Assist in building and leading the department through employee selection Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures Foster a positive, collaborative and professional working relationship among students, coworkers and partners across the Institute

Required Qualifications and Experience: A Master's degree in the area of Education, English Language Arts, Curriculum Development, or Instructional Design. A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required. Knowledge of First Nations culture and organizations is an asset. Understanding and knowledge of trades requirements, regulations and provincial standards is an asset. Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Dates of Contract: August 2026 - April 2028 - with the possibility of an extension.
