ABOUT THE TEAM Facility Management is responsible for the stewardship, operation, maintenance, renewal, and planning of RRC Polytech's diverse portfolio of campuses and facilities. Our team supports academic and administrative operations by providing safe, reliable, efficient, and sustainable learning and working environments across Manitoba.
The Infrastructure Planning & Sustainability team provides strategic leadership in energy management, infrastructure planning, sustainability initiatives, space planning, capital renewal, and technical services. Working collaboratively across the institution, the team helps ensure that facilities remain resilient, efficient, and aligned with the College's long-term strategic objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL DO The Manager, Energy & Infrastructure, is responsible for leading the development and execution of RRC Polytech’s energy management strategy, ensuring the efficient, sustainable, and effective operation of institutional facilities. The role provides technical leadership for energy efficiency initiatives, infrastructure renewal projects, capital improvements, and facility upgrades by analyzing building performance and energy consumption data to identify opportunities for optimization. Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, consultants, utilities, and external partners, the Manager advances energy conservation objectives, oversees building automation system performance, leads energy audits and technical assessments, and pursues funding opportunities through utility incentives, grants, and external programs. The position also provides leadership and support to the Controls Technician function while contributing to long-term infrastructure planning, facility renewal strategies, and enhanced occupant comfort across RRC Polytech campuses.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING Degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Building Systems, Facilities Management, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered Many years of progressively responsible experience in energy management, building systems, facilities operations and infrastructure planning within a large complex environment Experience evaluating building performance and identifying energy efficiency opportunities Experience working with Building Automation Systems and building controls Experience providing technical input into capital planning, infrastructure renewal, or major building projects Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, controls, and building performance optimization Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Experience supervising staff or providing functional leadership to technical personnel Experience developing business cases, lifecycle costing analyses, and investment recommendations Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
NICE TO HAVE Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), or equivalent professional designation Experience securing grants, utility incentives, and external funding for energy-related initiatives Knowledge of sustainability reporting, greenhouse gas reduction strategies, and climate action initiatives Experience within post-secondary education, healthcare, government, or other large institutional environments
