The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Specialist, Integrated Project Assessment coordination to join our CTO team in Toronto.
This is a permanent on site position.
As a Specialist, Integrated Project Assessment coordination, you will support the IPA framework as a structured, independent maturity and assurance process that guides capital allocation, stage‑gate decisions, and risk management across the project lifecycle (PEA, PFS, FS, and execution), consistent with FEL and PDRI‑based assessment principles. In this role, you will lead pre-assessment coordination with the project teams, including documentation validation, procurement interfaces, SME selection and mobilization, and validation of PQs with the MRMR team, CTO. Defines fit-for-purpose IPA methodology by project complexity, executes progressive reviews, and drives workbook scoring, FISAs (Facts, Impact/severity and Actions), and risk-based validation across technical, ESG, and other dimensions to optimize PEA/PFS/FS progression, study success, and MRMR preparation.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Lead pre-assessment coordination, ensuring all study, technical, ESG, procurement, and financial deliverables meet IPA maturity, evidence, and complexity requirements prior to review mobilization.
- Validate discipline-specific deliverables against decision‑grade maturity thresholds, confirming alignment with IPA standards and project scope.
- Define and tailor fit‑for‑purpose IPA methodologies by project complexity, study phase (PEA/PFS/FS), and strategic priority, aligned with NFN‑003, PDRI, AACE, and IPA benchmarks.
- Design and execute progressive IPA review logic, including sub-gates, discipline sequencing, and maturity scoring focused on highest technical and execution risks.
- Lead end‑to‑end Integrated Project Assessments, driving SME engagement, workshops, workbook scoring, and evidence‑based maturity evaluations across all disciplines.
- Challenge and validate critical technical assumptions, execution strategies, and cost/schedule confidence, identifying risks and opportunities ahead of gate decisions.
- Develop and manage risk-calibrated FISAs, prioritizing findings by severity, tracking closure through governance cycles, and escalating unresolved issues.
- Consolidate findings into executive-ready IPA scorecards and DRB/MRMR reporting, supporting go/no-go decisions, QP validation, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with senior technical, project, and corporate stakeholders to optimize study quality, accelerate maturity, reduce rework, and protect time-to-FID, while continuously improving IPA tools and standards.

- Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline is required,
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in the field
Skills:
- Technical Assurance Expertise: Lead independent IPA reviews and maturity assessments for complex mining capital projects.
- Project Development: Deep experience across PEA, PFS, FS, and execution, translating study maturity into gate‑ready assurance.
- FEL / IPA Methodologies: Strong applied mastery of FEL, PDRI‑based frameworks, and progressive IPA assessment practices.
- Technical: Credible depth in mining, processing, project economics, constructability and controls to challenge assumptions and validate readiness.
- Risk‑Based Decision Support: Formulate clear, defensible go/no‑go recommendations using maturity scoring and severity‑based FISAs.
- Governance & Compliance: Strong understanding of capital governance, audit standards, MRMR/QP interfaces, and evidence‑based assurance.
- Cross‑Functional Influence: Drive alignment across SMEs, project teams, and corporate functions without direct authority.
- Execution Excellence: Deliver disciplined workbook scoring, FISA development, and audit‑ready documentation.
- Business Acumen: Link assessment outcomes to capital efficiency, ROIC protection, SFCF, and FID confidence.
- Languages: Fluent in English; Portuguese proficiency strongly preferred.
- Integrity: Independent judgment, courageous escalation, and strong compliance and conflict‑of‑interest discipline.
- Site Exposure: Availability for periodic domestic and international site visits to support assessments, validations, and stakeholder engagement.
