About the Role

This key role is for an experienced Turnaround Rotating Planner is to plan corrective plans which are accurate in scope, timing, costs and HSSE aspects.

The corrective tasks are converted into logical mechanical task lists identifying labor, materials, and services.  A Planner creates the plan for Schedulers to schedule and mechanical execution to follow.

Provide support to Maintenance for the specified disciplines. Responsible for assisting site maintenance programs for Turnaround Maintenance, Spare parts, Policies, Procedures, Practices and Guidelines, and daily technical needs of the operating site within their Specialty.

 You will use your expertise to:

  • Develop Turnaround plans for rotating equipment.
  • Coordinate with Turnaround maintenance leads
  • Evaluate equipment inspections and assessments.
  • Identifying and prioritizing Turnaround scope tasks.
  • Developing work orders and job plans.
  • Collaborating with engineers and technicians.
  • Analyzing equipment performance data.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Update Operation steps for all complex corrective Turnaround planning requirements in anticipation of potential scopes that could cause significant production losses.
  • Provides guidance for efficient and effective execution of the required scope by identifying a logical sequence of job tasks.
  • Risks (safety, environment, and costs) are identified and mitigated.
  • Identifies task description, required resources, materials, services, tools, duration, and cost estimate of each task and provides guidance for efficient and effective scheduling and execution.
  • Materials and services are identified and/or requested in planning to minimize impact of cost as well as delivery times on the schedule.
  • Consistent with the established site standards and in line with QA/QC and permit work expectations. Personal and process safety factors are included when determining method(s) of execution.
  • Provides realistic estimates for duration of each activity leading to optimized efficiency.
  • Perform job site visits to confirm existing field conditions and engagement with production as requested.
  • Discusses all complex, e.g., multi-trade, high effort, high value, and safety critical corrective maintenance work with the maintenance and production team to improve the quality of the work pack.
  • Preparing necessary documents (Work package) needed for field execution e.g., reference documents such as equipment manuals, drawings, task checklists, inspection, test plans, etc.
  • Avoid the use of generic material ordering when possible. When generics are required, request that the part be set up with a material number in SAP.
  • Monitoring critical dates for work in planning queue, such as start/completion dates, and informing interfaces regarding deviation and deferrals as required.
  • Evaluate feedback from execution regarding level of detail, accuracy of plans, actual
  • hours to complete tasks to reduce labor cost.
  • Incorporating improvements from work order feedback coming from the frontline, such as updating task lists, BOMs, materials data, etc.
  • Adaptive team player in unforeseen scope changes and additions.

 

To be successful, you will have:

  • 10 years’ experience as a Technologist or Journeyman within applicable discipline.
  • 3 years’ planning experience
  • Skill / Expert in codes and standards, practices, and technologies within specific discipline.
  • Experience in Turnaround and Routine Maintenance Planning
  • Technical knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, turbines, generators).
  • Turnaround/Maintenance planning experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
  • Diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Stakeholder Engagements
  • Can manage evolving priorities and deliver on multiple commitments in a timely manner.
  • Can effectively pull groups together and coordinate action plans to drive resolution.
  • Competency Assurance
  • Experienced with Computerized Materials Management Systems (SAP Blueprint) & other work platforms such as Primavera, Microsoft Office – Excel, Word etc.
  • Fluent in English
  • Skill in interpreting discipline relevant technical documentation.
  • Knowledge using Scheduling tool, Primavera is preferred

 

This role requires that you:  

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
