Company Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Facility Manager leads all aspects of the operational infrastructure and needs to collaborate closely with production, intralogistics and external service providers. You will be responsible for ensuring that the facility's physical infrastructure and related systems are maintained and operated efficiently. The Facility Manager will be responsible for overseeing all facility-related operations for this newly constructed premix production plant in Chilliwack, BC. This state-of-the-art facility includes dry premix production, liquid premix production, advanced HVAC systems, and a fully automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) in the warehouse. This role ensures the plant operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting production, quality, safety, and sustainability goals. As a new facility, the position requires extensive coordination with multiple contractors, vendors, and OEM service partners during ramp-up, commissioning, and ongoing operations.

Job Description

FACILITY MAINTENANCE

Oversee the maintenance and repair of the site's buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime on facility related equipment.

Oversee daily operation and maintenance of all facility systems including utilities, HVAC, compressed air, boilers/chillers, dust collection, wastewater treatment, and building infrastructure.

Ensure rapid response and resolution for facility-related issues impacting production.

OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

Ensure that all facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) are functioning efficiently and effectively to aid manufacturing and warehouse operations.

Coordinate with production and other departments to minimize disruptions caused by facility maintenance activities. Proper planning and execution is critical for premix operations.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Ensure compliance with provincial & federal regulations (WorkSafeBC, environmental, building codes, etc.).

Ownership of the Health and Safety aspects for the premix plant (SME/SPA).

Partner with EHS teams to maintain a safe, hazard-free environment for employees and contractors.

Maintain documentation for inspections, safety audits, certifications, and regulatory reporting.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Promote a culture of safety within the facility, providing training and resources to employees.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT

Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, including negotiating contracts and overseeing work quality.

Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of facility-related services and supplies.

Primary point of contact for all facility-related contractors, OEM technicians, and service providers.

Lead contractor onboarding, safety orientation, work permitting, and performance management.

Oversee contract negotiations, service agreements, and compliance with site standards and timelines.

Ensure quality of work and adherence to technical specifications during maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT

Prepare track and manage facility operations budgets including maintenance, utilities, and contractor services.

Track facility-related KPIs, maintenance costs, energy consumption, and equipment lifecycle status.

Maintain CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for accurate work order and asset tracking.

Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements adhering to HQ standards.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Plan and oversee facility-related projects, such as renovations, equipment installations, and upgrades.

Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.

Coordinate with the Technical Manager, Production Manager and Plant Manager on downtimes for maintenance. In addition, hire and collaborate with external service providers.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for the facility.

Coordinate and lead emergency response efforts in case of incidents such as fires, floods, spills, or other emergencies.

Draft specific emergency response plans for Chilliwack facility in accordance to surrounding conditions.

SME on fire safety plan and evacuation plans for the facility and work alongside H&S representative.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal regulations related to facility management.

Maintain records and documentation required for regulatory compliance and audits.

Perform an internal mock audit to test measures in place for compliance and sustainability.

SUSTAINABILITY

Implement and promote sustainable practices within the facility, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and recycling initiatives.

Monitor and report on the facility's environmental performance.

  • Align with global HQ initiatives and report back on the sustainability factors maintained at Chilliwack.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in facility management, preferably within the food industry or a related manufacturing environment.

Proven experience in managing maintenance teams and external contractors.

Strong knowledge of facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and maintenance practices.

Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan and execute projects.

Proficient in using facility management software and tools.

Familiarity with Canadian building code, fire code, and environmental standards.

Knowledge of food industry standards and best practices is an asset.

Degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Certified Facility Manager (CFM – IFMA) will be an asset.

Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) will be an asset.

Relevant trades certificate will be an asset (Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – Red Seal Endorsement).

Valid Class 5 Driver’s license.

This position operates in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to various food ingredients and production equipment.

Additional Information

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $123,000 to $148,000 . The actual base salary for this position will depend on various factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of Red Bull’s bonus plan.
