Your Role
Radio-Canada Acadie is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Radio Content Development and Arts Unit. Reporting to the regional leadership team, this position is based in Moncton, New Brunswick. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the strategic objectives of our New Brunswick Audio department. You will oversee three flagship programs — La matinale, La grande virée and L’heure de pointe Acadie — as well as the Arts Unit team. The Arts Unit is dedicated to creating rich cultural content across all platforms, including the television program La billetterie Acadie. Beyond daily team support, you will provide your staff with guidance on operational workflows and content strategy to ensure all output meets program mandates and Journalistic Standards and Practices.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing actions that promote new approaches for both our audio offerings and the Arts Unit, while working closely with all existing teams. Your creativity and pulse on current trends in audio and arts coverage will allow you to propose bold, innovative ideas that evolve our content and programming. We are looking for a confident, positive leader with the strong interpersonal skills necessary to foster a harmonious, respectful workplace. You will need to interact and work closely with the leadership team to provide strategic support for programming and ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate general strategic objectives and guide the editorial direction of your teams.
- Establish action plans to achieve these objectives and track progress with the teams.
- Ensure ongoing alignment and followup regarding the specific mandate and objectives of each team.
- Provide teams with guidance on questions about story choices/angles, resources, field deployments, staff assignments, etc.
- Optimize the impact and reach of our content across all platforms.
- Actively monitor programs to provide constructive feedback and formal performance evaluations to teams.
- Manage expenditures and ensure the department remains within its allocated budget.
- Participate in the hiring process for new employees.
- Contribute to the employee performance management process and, if necessary, suggest ways to improve performance.
- Provide feedback to teams and create professional development plans.
- Supervise new employees and interns, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Help schedule annual leave by staff (in consultation with the leadership team).
- Oversee and approve work schedules.
- Take an active role in planning and management meetings.
- Serve, as requested, on various local, regional and national committees and perform any other tasks assigned by management.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field.
- Significant experience in the media industry with a deep understanding of multiplatform environments.
- Extensive knowledge of radio and audio production.
- In-depth knowledge of the media landscape, including digital platforms, as well as CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices and Program Policies.
- Significant team management experience (planning, organizing, directing and scheduling).
- Creative thinking, bold approach and agility in devising innovative solutions, assessing workflows and building new processes.
- Knowledge of effective management and change-management techniques.
- Strong leadership skills to engage and inspire creative, self-motivated teams.
- Proven track record in developing people and providing constructive feedback.
- Ability to deal with confidential matters.
- Positive attitude and solutions-focused leadership.
- Highly developed interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple developing stories.
- Ability to work independently and anticipate events.
- Excellent command of French (working language).
- Intermediate oral, writing and reading proficiency in English.
