About the Role We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for a structure build at Rio Tinto’s Kitimat operations. This role is critical in ensuring the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The Superintendent will oversee all on-site construction activities, coordinate subcontractors and trades, and maintain strong communication with the client and project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all daily on-site construction activities Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, including Rio Tinto site requirements Coordinate subcontractors, trades, and suppliers to ensure efficient workflow and schedule compliance Monitor project timelines and proactively address delays or challenges Review drawings, specifications, and work plans to ensure accuracy and constructability Conduct site meetings, safety meetings, and progress updates Ensure quality control standards are maintained throughout all phases of construction Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to resolve technical and scheduling issues Maintain accurate daily reports, site documentation, and progress tracking Support commissioning and project close-out activities Qualifications & Experience Minimum 3 years of construction experience, including 3+ years in a Superintendent role Proven experience within industrial, structural, or heavy construction projects Experience working at industrial facilities (Rio Tinto experience considered a strong asset) Demonstrated leadership ability managing crews and subcontractors Strong working knowledge of: Structural steel erection Temporary structures / tent systems (asset) Site logistics and scheduling Required Certifications Valid Safety Certifications (e.g., CSTS, WHMIS) Fall Protection Strong understanding of BC safety regulations and industrial site protocols Skills & Competencies Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment High attention to safety, detail, and quality Proficient in reading construction drawings and schedules What We Offer Competitive project-based compensation Collaborative and safety-focused work environment Potential for ongoing opportunities beyond project completion
