We are currently seeking a Field Manager to support our projects in a permanent, full-time position at our Echo Bay, Ontario operations.
The Field Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation and employees of their assigned field operations in the telecom line construction division at VistaCare Communications.
This role requires a willingness to travel, work a minimum of 40 hours per week, and have a valid driver’s license and reasonable driver’s abstract.

Duties & Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage crews deployed to your assigned worksites;
- Act as first point of contact for customer and public escalations and issues;
- Collect and review timesheets for all line construction employees and monitor daily progress;
- Organize work schedules, lodging, travel, vacations, vehicle repairs and per diems as needed;
- Complete jobsite inspections, and ensures that all company safety policies and procedures are being followed and that all required paperwork is completed and submitted on time;
- Monitor projects for changes to the scope the work. Clearly identify all changes to the scope of work on timesheets and communicate with key stakeholders to acquire written pre-approval where necessary. Follow all internal and customer directed change request processes which may involve redlining work plans, collection of supporting documentation and the submission of online forms. Change-requests may be required due to safety conditions, work plan errors, delays due to customer “not ready” conditions, etc.;
- Respond to safety incidents and/or inquiries from workers in a timely manner;
- Investigation of incidents, both safety and non-safety related in conjunction with Safety team;
- Manage fleet and material stocking at your assigned projects/worksites;
- Manage your assigned worksite project scoping;
- Responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time and on budget, escalating any concerns or issues that may affect these deadlines;
- Cable management in the yard;
- Civil access quoting;
- Ensure Technician development and conduct performance review
- After-hours call outs for your projects;
- Travel as required.

Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reasonable driver abstract; must meet insurance carrier requirements;
- Willingness to travel throughout the region as required; occasional travel outside of territory may be required;
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a field-based telecom, project management or construction industry leadership role;
- Experience with Outside Plant Construction, and specific knowledge of fibre optics and FTTx;
- Experience with daily logistics planning/scheduling for a team;
- Proven track record of delivering results within strict deadlines while effectively leading a team and resolving daily obstacles.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: The wage range for this role is $70K to $100K (CDN)
