Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (Gateway CERH) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing rural health through research, education, collaboration, and community engagement. Working alongside healthcare organizations, academic institutions, community partners, and volunteers, Gateway CERH develops innovative initiatives that strengthen healthcare systems and improve the health and well-being of rural communities.

Position Summary

Gateway CERH is seeking a collaborative, organized, and motivated Project Manager to oversee research initiatives, coordinate project teams, and support the successful delivery of community and healthcare projects across rural Ontario.

The Project Manager serves as a key liaison between Research Chairs, educational institutions, healthcare partners, funders, community organizations, and internal staff. This role provides leadership to Research Assistants, students, volunteers, and project teams while ensuring projects remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned with organizational priorities.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and relationship builder who enjoys managing multiple priorities, supporting team members, and translating ideas into action.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Coordination · Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of multiple research and community-based projects. · Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, deliverables, and reporting schedules. · Monitor project progress and proactively identify risks, challenges, and opportunities. · Ensure projects meet funding requirements, organizational standards, and established deadlines. · Coordinate project meetings and maintain project documentation. Research Management · Coordinate and support research activities involving educational institutions, Rural Health Research Chairs, healthcare organizations, and community partners. · Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of research initiatives. · Assist with research planning, ethics applications, data collection processes, and knowledge translation activities. · Monitor project outcomes and prepare summaries, reports, and presentations. · Contribute to the development of grant applications and funding proposals. Team Leadership & Supervision · Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to Research Assistants, students, placement learners, and volunteers. · Delegate project tasks and monitor progress toward objectives. · Foster a collaborative, positive, and supportive team environment. · Support onboarding, training, and professional development opportunities for project staff. Community & Partner Engagement · Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare organizations, municipalities, educational institutions, researchers, and community partners. · Engage stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of research and community initiatives. · Represent Gateway CERH at meetings, conferences, networking events, and community activities as required. Administration & Reporting · Prepare project updates, progress reports, funding reports, presentations, and briefing materials. · Maintain organized project files and ensure accurate documentation. · Manage project correspondence and respond to project-related communications. · Track project milestones, deliverables, and performance indicators. Marketing, Communications & Knowledge Translation · Support the development of educational resources, health promotion materials, newsletters, and project communications. · Collaborate with the marketing team to share project successes and community impact. · Assist with media releases, presentations, publications, and stakeholder communications. Events & Community Initiatives · Coordinate project meetings, workshops, community engagement sessions, and special events. · Support event logistics, registrations, materials, and participant communications. · Represent Gateway CERH at project-related activities throughout the community. Additional Responsibilities · Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and organizational priorities. · Support funding diversification efforts and partnership development. · Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support Gateway CERH's mission and vision.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess: · Postsecondary education in Health Sciences, Public Health, Business, Project Management, Research, Social Sciences, or a related field. · Experience managing projects, coordinating teams, or leading community initiatives. · Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities with experience supervising or mentoring others. · Knowledge of research methodologies, data collection, or project evaluation is considered an asset. · Experience with grant writing or funding applications is considered an asset. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based collaboration tools. · Experience working within healthcare, academic, research, or not-for-profit environments is considered an asset.

Working Environment

This position is an in-office role.

The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Some flexibility is required to attend meetings, events, or partner engagements outside of standard office hours.

Compensation & Benefits

· 35 hours per week · Two (2) weeks paid vacation · Chamber of Commerce Benefits Plan: Employees become eligible to participate after one (1) year of continuous full-time employment. · RRSP Program: Employees become eligible to participate after six (6) months of continuous full-time employment.
