Career Opportunity We’re hiring (2) Senior Architects, to join our Engineering Department. In this role, you will plan, direct, coordinate and oversee the work of others in the Architectural Design Section; prepare design documents for new construction and renovation of various transit related facilities. You will ensure the technical accuracy/adequacy, safety, constructability, maintainability, cost effectiveness and timely completion of designs.

What You Will Do Direct and monitor the work of others in the preparation of contract documents. Establish the scope of work, set priorities, and prepare workplans. Lead multidisciplinary projects. Complete field investigations, studies, analyses, interpretations and reports, including construction review reports to the City as required. Direct and train Architectural Technologists and Design Draftspersons in the Architectural Design Section. Participate in the evaluation and review of proposals, submissions and tenders for related projects. Apply architectural seal and signature, as required by code. Assist in the day-to-day management of the section. Provide technical and engineering support and expertise to appropriate parties/staff as required.

What Qualifications Do You Bring Completion of a University Degree in Architecture, or the equivalent, and experience working in progressively responsible positions as a registered Architect, including experience in transit facility design. Membership in good standing with the Ontario Association of Architects (with a professional seal) is mandatory. Thorough knowledge of architectural principles, methods and practices. Knowledge of design, specifications, construction and contracting techniques. In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code combined with knowledge of provincial and municipal planning and zoning requirements. Strong familiarity with national and provincial construction related standards, codes and statutes as they relate to the transit system and its facilities. Sound judgement; highly developed problem-solving skills; and technical report writing skills. Strong working knowledge of CADD, as well as knowledge of computers and software relevant to the work, e.g. Excel, Word, CorelDraw.
