What will you do?
Do you have solid experience in electrical work with low or medium voltage systems and enjoy fieldwork—installation and troubleshooting? This position may interest you!
As an Electrical Field Technician, you will perform commissioning, installation supervision, and repair work on electrical networks. This includes all types of field service work at customer sites. You will assess client needs on site and inform the engineering service representative or manager of any additional activities required.
Responsibilities:
Installation, Commissioning, Testing & Maintenance
Installing, commissioning, and maintaining low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers (vacuum, air). Modernizing electrical equipment on job sites, including circuit breakers, protection relays, and other devices. Install and test electrical distribution systems (breakers, meters, protection systems). Commission various electrical distribution equipment. Test and calibrate protection equipment such as metering devices and protection relays. Manage a wide variety of electrical equipment in field environments. Prepare technical reports presenting test results from field work.
Project Delivery & Operational Support
Lead and coordinate projects within time and budget constraints. Lead projects focused on electrical products and testing. Monitor deviations, collaborate with management, and implement corrective actions. Manage revenue sources, control costs, and coordinate timely invoicing. Meet productivity and efficiency targets.
Client Engagement & Compliance
Act as a technical liaison with internal and external customers. Ensure all work meets customer requirements and complies with: Safety standards Employment laws CSA standards EHS policies and programs Company procedures and regulations Location: Ottawa, ON with travel throughout Quebec and occasionally across Canada. ***
What will you need to succeed?
Education:
College diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering, Electrodynamics, or Industrial Electricity
Experience:
2+ years’ experience with electrical equipment ranging from 600 V to 35 kV (medium voltage). Field experience working with a variety of electrical equipment. Asset: experience working with transformers (on-site or in assembly environments).
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment. Experience with protection relays, metering devices, and electrical testing/calibration. Solid troubleshooting and installation expertise in electrical systems.
Core Competencies:
Strong diagnostic and systematic problem-solving skills. Ability to work efficiently and remain motivated under pressure. Strong bilingual communication skills in English and French, both written and verbal.
Additional Requirements:
A valid and unrestricted G/Class 5 driver’s licence is required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program and to operate a company vehicle for travel to customer sites within assigned region(s). Travel: Willingness to travel frequently throughout Quebec and occasionally across Canada. Must be physically able to climb, work in high places and/or confined spaces. Must be able to distinguish various colored electric components.
