Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Construction Project Manager (with ICI experience) to join our team.
In this role, you will oversee construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality, safety, and timeliness. Your proficiency and expertise will contribute to our mission of constructing a new standard of excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and collection of project start-up documentation for the project.
- Prepare and negotiate subcontracts and contract revisions.
- Understand and prepare preliminary, interim and baseline schedules for distribution.
- Prepare and/or review phasing and sequencing plans.
- Prepare budgets, price and process changes and internal accounting revisions.
- Prepare and review project reports and logs.
- Prepare monthly Work in Progress (WIP) reports.
- Monitor process flows and submittals.
- Identify, mitigate and manage risk areas of the project and involve management immediately on potential loss items.
- Summarize events for Management for risk items including writing and distributing notices and claims.
- Delegate tasks to the Project Coordinator(s) and Co-op personnel and review all work and documents for completeness.
- Mentor and coach junior subordinates.
- Review and approve accounts payable.
- Prepare, and have certified, accounts receivable and collect payments.
- Problem solve technical matters with structural, architectural, building science, mechanical, electrical and all other disciples.
- Communicate, and where required, educate business partners on their legal and contractual obligations.
- Review all close-out documents, including as-built drawings, manual, warranties and applicable maintenance information prepared by others.
- Maintain and promote the project completion schedule; identify bottlenecks and long lead items and schedule accordingly.
- Other duties as assigned/required.
Required Competencies and Attributes:
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
- A minimum of three (3) years as a Construction Project Manager, with a minimum of two (2) years in the ICI Sector.
- Familiarity with local construction codes and regulations.
- Ability to pass security screening(s)/check(s) with various authorities.
- Exceptional written and oral communication, in English.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Strong understanding of CCDC2 and CCDC5B prime contracts.
- Strong understanding of CCA1 subcontracts.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Project.
- Procore and Bluebeam proficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints.
- Able to carefully review plans, contracts and schedules to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Conduct professionally with the mindset to obtain project, client and consultant references and repeat business.
- Able to work in a team or independently.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Willing to work closely with diverse teams and adapt to various roles to build relationships with fellow Team members, subcontractors, the client, consultants and architects.
- PMP certification is an asset.
- Gold Seal Certification in the Project Management designation is a highly regarded asset.
This is a permanent, full-time position working out of our Head Office in Burlington, Ontario, with occasional visits to construction projects.
