Department Head – Mental Health Substance Use Worker Program

Stenberg College is seeking a collaborative and experienced Department Head for the Mental Health Substance Use Worker (MHSUW) Program.
The ideal candidate is passionate about mental health and substance use education, has strong leadership and communication skills, and brings current industry experience within community, clinical, or social service settings.
- Location: Remote
- Employment: Part Time, Permanent
- Schedule: 5 hours per week
- Compensation: $40 per hour
- Start Date: September 1, 2026
What You Will Do:
- Provide leadership and guidance to instructors within the MHSUW program
- Support mentoring, and performance management of faculty
- Ensure curriculum delivery aligns with program outcomes and industry standards
- Monitor student progress and support student success initiatives
- Collaborate with academic leadership on program planning and continuous improvement
- Participate in program evaluations, accreditation activities, and quality assurance processes
- Assist with scheduling, course planning, and faculty coverage as needed
- Maintain awareness of current trends, best practices, and regulatory changes within the mental health and substance use sector
- Foster positive relationships with community partners and industry stakeholders
- Participate in meetings, events, and institutional initiatives as required
Who You Are:
- Completion of a Mental Health & Substance Use Worker Diploma program
- Minimum 5 years of full time work experience in a career occupation relevant to mental health, substance use, or related human services field:

- social work, psychology, mental health, counselling, substance use studies, or related behavioral health field.
- Be in good standing of current licensure or membership
- Clear criminal record check under Ministry of the Attorney General
- Certification in online teaching or prior experience teaching in an online environment (preferred but not required
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills
- Technical proficiency in performing moderate computer functions
- Previous teaching, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred
- Experience working in post-secondary education is considered an asset
