Purpose of Position The Communications Manager plays a vital role in planning, developing, coordinating, and executing communications and marketing initiatives that support strategic priorities.

This position is responsible for managing integrated communications and marketing campaigns, developing and executing promotional strategies, coordinating communications projects, and ensuring effective reach and engagement of key audiences across British Columbia and Canada.

The Communications Manager serves as the bridge between strategy and execution, translating organizational priorities into campaigns, communications initiatives, marketing activities, and public-facing materials that support program growth, instructor recruitment, supporter engagement, brand awareness, and organizational visibility.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities Working closely with the Senior Manager, Communications, the communications team, advancement, and education team members, you offer foundational support to our communications and marketing activities in the following key areas:

Communications and Marketing Strategy Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Communications, to develop integrated communications and marketing plans aligned with organizational priorities. Translate organizational goals into targeted campaigns and promotional initiatives. Support awareness, recruitment, enrollment, engagement, and visibility objectives through strategic communications and marketing activities. Identify opportunities to increase awareness and engagement among families, educators, professionals, community organizations, and supporters.

Campaigns Development and Marketing Execution Develop and manage integrated marketing and communications campaigns that support organizational priorities. Coordinate campaign planning, timelines, deliverables, and implementation. Support promotional initiatives that extend beyond digital channels, including community outreach, print materials, presentations, events, partnerships, and grassroots awareness-building efforts. Develop communications and marketing materials that support program growth, instructor recruitment, and organizational visibility. Ensure marketing activities are coordinated across departments and aligned with organizational goals.

Content and Storytelling Lead the development of content that supports communications and marketing initiatives. Write and coordinate newsletters, website content, articles, campaign messaging, scripts, promotional materials, and other communications assets. Collaborate with staff, instructors, learners, families, and community partners to identify and share impactful stories. Ensure messaging remains audience-focused, compelling, and aligned with brand and values.

Communications Operations and Project Management Manage communications and marketing projects from concept to completion. Coordinate timelines, approvals, resources, and deliverables across multiple initiatives. Establish and maintain systems that support effective communications planning and execution. Work collaboratively across teams to ensure communications efforts are coordinated and impactful.

Brand, Publications and Promotional Assets Coordinate the development and production of communications and marketing materials. Oversee printed materials, publications, promotional resources, and branded assets. Manage vendor relationships related to communications and marketing projects. Support stewardship of the brand across all public-facing communications. Ensure consistency in messaging, visual identity, and organizational representation.

Media and Public Relations Support Support media outreach initiatives and communications opportunities. Draft media materials, story pitches, and communications resources. Identify opportunities to elevate Learn. Develop. Succeed.’s profile through strategic communications and thought leadership initiatives. Support awareness-building efforts that position the organization as a trusted leader in inclusive and neuroaffirming education.

Tasks outside of those explicitly outlined may be expected during times of increased need

Qualifications and Experience A post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, campaign management, public relations, or related field. Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated communications and marketing initiatives that support organizational growth, awareness, engagement, or recruitment goals. Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously, with the ability to move work from concept through implementation. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with experience creating content for a variety of audiences and channels. Experience developing marketing and promotional materials across print, digital, web, email, and community-based channels. Strong understanding of audience engagement, brand development, and strategic communications principles. Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams, subject matter experts, external vendors, and community stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of projects and outcomes. Experience in a nonprofit, education, community-based, or mission-driven organization is considered an asset. Familiarity with digital communications platforms, website content management systems, email marketing tools, CRM systems, project management software, and design collaboration tools is considered an asset. Competencies Strong strategic marketing and communications thinking, with the ability to translate organizational priorities into effective campaigns and communications initiatives. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling content for a variety of audiences and platforms. Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and executing integrated communications and marketing campaigns. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to move projects from concept to completion with minimal oversight. Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with diverse stakeholders. Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, including the capacity to prioritize work and respond effectively in a dynamic environment. A proactive, solutions-oriented approach, with the initiative to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive work forward independently. A strong understanding of audience engagement, brand awareness, and marketing principles, including how communications support growth, recruitment, participation, and organizational visibility. Adaptability and resilience, with the ability to manage competing priorities and evolving organizational needs. High levels of professionalism, discretion, and accountability. Start date: July 20, 2026; later start date is possible for an ideal candidate

Reports to: Senior Manager, Communications

Hours of work: 40 working hours per week, Monday to Friday Approximate schedule could be anywhere from 8:30 a.m./10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m./7:00 p.m. Pacific Time Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings or weekends

What We Offer Salary range: $60,000 - 65,000 per year, commensurate with experience and a forty (40) hour work week. The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum starting salary. The top of the pay range is for a successful candidate who is an advancement and fundraising expert with a combination of experience and competencies to perform these job duties at an expert level. Financial support for relocation is available. $1,000 RRSP contribution (2026). For reference, our organization is currently researching whether and how we may participate in retirement savings/pension plan options. Updates on this may be offered during the interview process.
