About the role

Event Assistant Applicants: *A. *Must be able to start work for training 11 AM to 3 PM on Sat. May 23, 2026 (or at the latest start Monday, May 25). Must be able to work evenings from 3 pm to 10 pm. B. YOU MUST HAVE AT MINIMUM 2 years of Special Event Experience and Managing people at events. YOU MUST know EXPERT LEVEL --- Admissions / Front of House; Set Up; Ushering; Managing staff of up to 6 people;

C. Must have your own reliable vehicle to drive to different venues in the City of Calgary; D. Part time --- Evening Shows and Events are usually held some days during the week AND include weekends (Friday and Saturday) ? 20 to 40 hours per week; E. Period - Summer or Seasonal; Contract can be renewed part - time if candidate is a great fit; F. Pay: $20 to $40 per hour to start (negotiable);

DETAILS: The 26th Annual FUNNYFEST Comedy Society has opportunities for ALL AGES with EXPERIENCE in EVENT Management, Production, HOSPITALITY and Serving. You will enjoy being challenged, while having fun learning at an expert level of a diverse range of production and practical business experience at events (and in our office).

The Event Assistant contract work will consist of assisting in the successful implementation of the live shows, seminars and workshops we produce. For instance, the festival, shows and workshops and assisting in the on - going cultural arts programming.

KEY DUTIES: Event Assistant and Event Coordinating --- 1. Front of House (FOH); 2. Ushering; 3. Talent Liaison; 4. Communicating tasks and Assisting the delegation of communications / inquiries / information & Orientation 5. Training 6. Organize event space and area; 7. performer tracking 8. set up 9. tear down 10. Event Support --- A. Organize inventory B. Enter FOH reconciliation; C. Venue plan; D. Help Manage volunteers and staff; 11. program scheduling 12. Pre-production in the office on some days 13. support / box office preparation --- A. venue list B. schedules C. reservations; D. supplies; E. Venue Box; 14. Inter-office Liaison 15. Coordination of inventory and help with supplies for delivery for production 16. Some diverse help in office if necessary.

What We're Looking For: Must have 2 years EVENT ASSISTANT and EVENT MANAGEMENT Experience, with the ability to juggle multiple projects, work with diverse personalities and work within strict deadlines. Enthusiastic to learn the ropes of our unique events and Administration and production. Tech savvy. Team player with a positive attitude.

Should possess experience: A. Event experience MANDATORY and some Technical knowledge; B. Beginner or intermediate knowledge and ability in MAC OS, Excel, Outlook and Slack; C. Know the location of all general files both on the computer and in their hard copy form. D. Able to remember and prioritize detailed training on event productions, AND know the various JOB roles that are required for each type of show or event.

  1. If helping in the office with pre-production We will provide a dedicated work station with computer (loaded with MS Office and other relevant software) at our office in the CITY of CALGARY; 2.
