Duties:

Under the general supervision of the to Manager of Appraisal and Acquisitions, the incumbent is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation and administration of the property administration section. This includes the paralegal functions for intake, planning and overall project management of all acquisition, expropriation, consolidation sales, lease, permit and demolition projects, for the property administration section, on behalf of various government departments for Real Estate Services Branch (RESB).

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Post-secondary education as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal recognized in Manitoba. A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience creating complex legal descriptions used in documents registered at the Property Registry.
  • Experience reviewing legal documents such as transfers of land, caveats, discharge and purchase agreements.
  • Experience supervising professional staff including training, coaching and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and plot legal descriptions to identify specific parcels and areas of land.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Acts, Regulations and Statutes.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to translate complex subjects into plain language for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
