Job Description What is the opportunity? As part of the Group Risk Management team, Associate Director at Local Market Risk is responsible for providing independent and effective monitoring, control, and communications on the nature and extent of all material market risk and ensures the implementation and compliance with risk management policies and procedures. The business focus is Central Funding and Global Equities under Capital Markets. You will partner with stakeholders across trading business, risk management and technology to ensure the implementation of and compliance with market risk policies and procedures. What will you do? Provide market risk oversight for Central Funding and Global Equities. Become a subject matter expert in designated desks. Support the management of market risk reporting process and ensure accuracy of key risk metrics. Analyze key trading strategies and products to ensure they are in line with RBC’s risk tolerance and objectives. Be the go to person on select designated desks including but not limited to: understanding key risks and P&L changes, soundness and completeness of all the Risk processes, be proactive in the risk control framework development Monitor changes in portfolio and market to extract value-added insight for senior management. Highlight key market themes and events that form risk thematic relevancy to your coverage. Review significant transactions to help facilitate businesses while ensuring proper risk controls. Provide effective challenge and analysis to new transactions and emerging risks. Collaborate with trading teams to ensure cohesion on key risk issues: systems, limits, risk management. Collaborate and coordinate among different stakeholders to meet enterprise/business line project deliverables. This will include projects related to capital requirements, risk modernization, as well as on-demand ad-hoc requests from internal partners. Proactively leverage emerging AI tools and technologies to enhance workflows, drive process improvements, and deliver innovative solutions that create measurable value for risk teams and the business partners. What do you need to succeed? Must Have Master’s degree with an emphasize in finance, risk management, economics or a quantitative discipline. 3+ years in Financial Corporation preferably with Equity and/or Derivatives experience. Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities; attention to details and sensitive to numbers Experience with Python, SQL, Tableau, Bloomberg Independent and Curious: Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, coupled with a natural curiosity and eagerness to explore and solve complex problems. Nice to Have Practical experience with AI tools Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize in a fast moving environment What’s in it for you?
