The City is now seeking a talented and ambitious planning professional to lead its planning function.
Responsibilities
The Director, Planning is responsible for designing and delivering planning initiatives and programs, including development planning, city design, urban regeneration, and analytics. Leading a team of more than 25 staff, the Director will oversee a broad and diverse mandate. Key responsibilities include shaping a new vision for the department, managing projects across a range of scales, mentoring and developing a growing team, and ensuring the organization has the systems, policies, and processes needed to support continued growth in a transparent, consistent, and efficient manner.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is an experienced planning leader with a background in a dynamic, high-growth municipality. They will bring experience addressing complex urban challenges such as densification, major development applications, large-scale planning studies and projects, Official Community Plan and rezoning bylaw development and updates, and improving development processes. The successful candidate will be an exceptional people leader, communicator, and relationship builder, capable of fostering alignment and consensus among both internal and external stakeholders, and with Council.

Compensation
The expected base salary range for this role is $178,908 to $209,184 plus benefits.
