About the Team The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety provides supervision and rehabilitation services for adult and young offenders; promotes appropriate and effective policing; and supports community and public safety services throughout Saskatchewan.
ABOUT THE JOB The Opportunity: As Assistant Deputy Director of Programs and one of the key members of the Correction Division's management team, the successful candidate will provide leadership and direction with respect to program development and delivery, security management and human resources. The Ministry is seeking a highly motivated professional who can commit themselves to teamwork and collaboration. As the successful candidate, you will plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs, policies, procedures and other matters impacting the Centers' operations related to offender programs, integrated case management and custodial issues.
You will develop and maintain professional partnerships and relationships, provide integrated services with your client region which includes client families, provincial and federal agencies such as Health, Social Services, Mental Health, victims, police and RCMP services and First Nations Communities and their respective justice communities. As the Assistant Deputy Director or Programs you will develop inter-ministerial, inter-agency and community partnerships based on respect and collaborative responsibility.
To be considered for this position, you will have knowledge of The Correctional Services Act and Regulations, Corrections key challenges and strategies, policies, procedures and programs; knowledge of criminogenic factors and their relationship to offender case management, and, knowledge of human behaviours, interpersonal communications and counseling methodologies within an institutional corrections environment.
To qualify, you would typically have a degree in the social sciences or equivalent and supervisory experience in an institutional corrections environment. Responsibilities Ensures delivery and evaluation of correctional programs in a multi-level correctional facility. Provides support in the daily management of the centre. lead, guide, coach and direct a diverse group of employees in the application of dynamic security and case management practices to meet the needs of offenders and achieve organizational goals; (leadership skill) advise and guide a diverse group of employees, that results in a team that can meet its goals and objectives, while maintaining a healthy, productive, respectful and safe work environment that is free of discrimination; (leadership skill) develop, implement and lead the delivery of correctional programs in response to program objectives, the ministries mandate, within established timelines and policies; (problem solving skill) establish and maintain professional, positive relationships and partnerships with community agencies and resources; (interpersonal skill) communicate clearly, concisely and at a level appropriate to the audience, in verbal or written form, relevant and accurate information in response to complex inquiries or issues; (communications skill) gather relevant information, analyze data, identify and select options to make recommendations and practical and effective decisions within established guidelines; and (analytical & problem solving skill) understand, recognize and positively cope with stress generated by a negative institutional environment. (safety/stress/security skill)
