Worker Type: Employee Job Post End Date: 07/07/2026 About this opportunity: Reporting to the Superintendent, Integrated Operations, the Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Lloyd Thermal Conventional Heavy Oil (LTCHO) assets. This position provides technical leadership, drives operational and maintenance improvements, and fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and cost optimization. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Operations Specialist leads initiatives that enhance maintenance effectiveness and safety performance, ensuring processes are executed efficiently and contribute to ongoing operational excellence. Through effective communication, mentorship, and the implementation of best practices, this role supports the achievement of business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of operational performance. Work Environment: This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area This is a full-time employee position. What you’ll do: Champion a strong safety culture by leading safety improvement initiatives, promoting safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Lead the development and execution of operational, maintenance, and continuous improvement projects that enhance asset reliability, efficiency, and performance across LTCHO operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver business objectives, support operational excellence, and drive cost-effective solutions. Monitor, analyze, and report on operational and project performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve execution, reduce costs, and optimize efficiencies. Support procurement, category management, contract development, and materials management activities to ensure effective project and operational delivery. Develop and maintain operational procedures, work instructions, and reliability programs while providing technical guidance and mentorship to support safe, consistent, and efficient operations. Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: Legally authorized to work in Canada Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, operations leadership, or a related role within the oil and gas industry. Demonstrated success leading complex, high-impact projects and initiatives across large, multidisciplinary organizations. Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Experience with Safe Control of Work, Asset Risk Management, and the development and implementation of operational procedures, standards, and competency assurance programs. Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, project schedules, and cost controls while delivering operational and business objectives. Working knowledge of maintenance and work management systems, including SAP, and experience supporting facility turnarounds, project execution, Management of Change (MOC), and risk assessment processes such as HAZOPs. Experience working in Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil operations and facilities. Familiarity with applicable industry codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices. As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments. For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
