Senior Strategist, YouTube (1 Year Contract)

Blue Ant Media is seeking a Senior Strategist to lead the strategy, growth, and revenue optimization of a segment of its YouTube channel portfolio. This role will oversee channel performance, content strategy, audience development, and day-to-day operations, with a focus on increasing revenue, watch time, engagement, and overall brand presence.

The Senior Strategist will manage and guide internal team members, freelancers, and cross-functional partners to ensure all content is optimized for platform performance, aligned with brand priorities, and contributing to annual business targets. This person will bring strong YouTube expertise, strategic leadership, analytical thinking, and a proven ability to grow digital audiences and revenue.

This role will report into the Senior Director, Digital and is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance at our head office in Toronto for a minimum of three (3) days per week.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $70,000 - $75,000 per year, with final compensation determined by experience and qualifications.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead the strategy and performance of a segment of Blue Ant Media’s YouTube channels, with a focus on revenue growth, audience development, watch time, and brand awareness
  • Oversee channel operations, publishing calendars, community management, claims resolution, and ownership conflicts
  • Manage and provide direction to the social editor, freelancers, and cross-functional partners supporting the channels
  • Develop and execute content optimization strategies across titles, descriptions, keywords, thumbnails, playlists, metadata, and publishing frequency
  • Use YouTube Analytics, SEO insights, revenue data, and audience trends to identify opportunities for growth and improved monetization
  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports, highlighting audience engagement, revenue performance, risks, opportunities, and recommended optimizations
  • Monitor digital trends, platform updates, and competitive activity to ensure channels remain current and strategically positioned

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong understanding of YouTube strategy, SEO, metadata, analytics, monetization, community management, and platform best practices
  • Experience managing team members, freelancers, agencies, or cross-functional partners
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn performance data into clear insights and actionable recommendations
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple channels, priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to guide content packaging, including thumbnails, titles, and positioning
  • Knowledge of social media best practices and digital technologies
  • Working knowledge of creative tools is an asset
